If your line is with us we'll happily do so. Otherwise you'll have to ask Telkom.

Have you registered for our state of the telco nation trial? We may be able to offer you some more detailed support and stats to pick up the issue, but we need your permission to do so.

What's the process for handing my line over to you please?

But my exchange is not congested ? Or is it just to gather support for those that are.

Think it is to see what is going on on your exchange anyway...and did they say individual packets? The tool interests me very much.

Just noticed something interesting. All my Youtube ads are now Ice hockey ads, which makes sense as I spend a lot of time on Ice hockey stores and sites, but what interests me is that before the switch to CW, all I got was annoying local ads.

You never know the state of your exchange. But this tool is not designed to point fingers at Telkom. Quite the contrary. We no longer have to be asking you to run a tracert every time you submit a support request if you're using this advanced diagnostics and support option. We'll simply have a look at the history of your exchange's performance.

Now this does mean that we somewhat forego the last mile and local network aspects a little, so we may still request it on occasion, but we have another tool for that too. :D

CW....maybe a new thread for that trial thing?

Going to keep it low-key for now during the trial. We don't yet have the capacity to take on the wider market as our primary efforts are focused on our paying customers for now. We're very, very happy to add as many users on to the trial as we can, but what we don't want is a flooding of our systems from non-paying customers and it takes us days on end to respond to these guys. First impressions last.

That's not to say that we don't want non-Crystal Web customers though, to anyone else reading this. Please feel free to join the trial by submitting your details to us. But this does for now take a lower priority on our support desk than anything else.

Now this does mean /snip.

Dude, you know what this is pointing to, gap in market, business opportunity, run...

So if you have line congestion....no ISP will ever be able to deliver a good internet service?

It means that all of the packets of information you're sending/receiving are being delayed/lost before it even reaches the ISP's network. It's delayed/lost on the infrastructure between your telephone/router and Telkom's ADSL last mile infrastructure, not on the ISP's network. So the ISP still routes the information correctly, and can do so as fast as possible, but the bottleneck has effectively happened long before then.

Well, I am impressed so far. Haven't really used the internet for anything taxing, but everything works and last night I was looking for something to watch and 900 Kb/s later I had a season down.

Can't wait until the mysterious bit is installed, if it will go towards giving me the same experience I am currently having.
