Strongly doubt it's UDP. It's not a video stream where loss of a few packets will cause a glitch in the video. Loss of a few packets will result in game state data being out of sync between client and server.

Perhaps... but I can tell you now that its either a mix or UDP ;)

Will fire up the ol' tcpdump again tonight, but I'm fairly sure I don't recall seeing any UDP traffic on the last dump I sent to another ISP.

If so then its a lot easier to tunnel. However for example steam by default fires up UDP unless specified to use TCP... I'm just too lazy to verify that now :D

Just looked at the pcap file again. Definitely no UDP traffic associated with D3. Apart from the obvious DNS stuff.

I didn't have a very good experience last night streaming the football unfortunately.

We've been monitoring the peering links between us and Diablo servers to test for issues, and it's mostly good news. The data shows minor downtime (not on our network) and good pings, in a fairly stable range, although this specific test still runs over the IPC network so there's no accounting for any jitter or other issues on the Telkom route. Here are the results since last week Friday:

In other words the connection is good and is stable, but the issue is packet loss, and this is because of the international issue. So expect far, far better performance on the gaming front very soon, in line with the sub-200ms range you see above. So far we know there is packet loss on the route and lag and jitter are not caused by routing issues (phew [although we want to have a stern word with ntt and telia nonetheless]), we know why, and there's a plan as well as contingency if the plan is delayed at all.

:)

Thanks for the feedback, this is what I want to hear, also had issues streaming football last night, but this is possibly also related to the international issues

Crystal Web, can you provide any ETR for the international packet loss yet? I would really love to be able to play WoW this weekend :)

Gents, I have been super happy with CW since I signed up over a month ago. Sunday night I was able to stream the tennis in HD as well as pull a 1gb nzb at the same time without issues.
I chatted to Shaun on the phone and the new equipment required is busy been installed and configured and the assurance that it will make a difference.
Considering they actually haven't officially launched, I think they are doing a sterling job in providing an excellent product with excellent service.

Kudos to Shaun, Paul and the team.
