port 110 is wrong.
NNTP is 119
Actually giving some vague thought to my network at home, and given that I have all that wonderful OpenMesh stuff to play with as well, I'm thinking I'm going to seperate out my wireless network...
1 private one that I control access to very strictly, and then one connected directly to the Mikrotik that is rate limited and all of that with a basic password which just has access to the interwebs.
Hence why we're currently having some issues. We did this at no cost to you guys for this month and use the line sync speed to allocate an allowed speed on the throughput, but we change this around once we add the shaping policies and this process isn't 100% yet.I really wouldn't mind my unshaped allocation running at full line speed, and then reverting back to the purchased account speed when the unshaped data has been used up.
Gotta read those mails we send you.Support asked me to try port 110. Found the problem and resolved it now.
The usernames are [email protected] so I just assumed the news host name was news.crystalweb.com but it's actually news.crystalweb.co.za
mikrotik hotspot![]()
Gotta read those mails we send you.![]()
The mail I received didn't have the news host address in it, just the username and password. But still it was my bad for just assuming the news host name followed the same domain #Blockeyes
EDIT: Found the mail for setting up the news server. Sorry Shaun - the news host name is there and ends in .co.za #eyeballs
Your penance - 50 pushups and 10 bloody marys
Will all of those toys work if I don't have a native Wifi setup on the Mikrotik since its an offloaded device I wonder....
So much stuff to learn, so many chances to royally fubar my network.. fun times ahead![]()
I think you should change the bloody marys to Holy Hail Marys... its more appropriate for the penance.
Configure your hotspot router as for instance 192.168.2.1, add a new mangle rule for 2.1 and limit that in q trees and add a couple of firewall rules for 2.1. Sorted.![]()
Thats my thought process so far, before doing too much digging..
have 1 network (192.168.1.x) for my "private" network, and another (192.168.2.x) for the public... different ports on the Mikrotik that can only talk to the gateway
Thank you.Customers in the Eastern Cape, could you please do a power cycle and report to our support desk if you're still experiencing issues. Some upgrades were performed and things should be looking better for you guys.
