Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

Should be, yes. You can do so from the support portal (still no SSL - fixing that with the full portal release this month), and view and update tickets. We've also started updating the KB articles there for customers.

Thanks. Soon to be tested if I have an issue :)

No problem. I'm not 100% familiar with Destiny myself - perhaps one of our customers can assist a bit here? One of our new hires is a gamer - he'll be responsible for eating pizza and drinking beer here. (i.e. gaming)

Does the game itself rely on P2P protocols for it to work properly? If so, send the developers a strongly worded complaint. We can also prioritise on service rather than port, so it's one we may be able to resolve if it's pure gaming and can't be manipulated to route non-gaming traffic through.

Unfortunately Destiny seems to rely on P2P. Posted a couple links below from "unofficial sources"

Would really appreciate some feedback, or rather willing to test this for you you :p so your other customers don't suffer :D

PM me. Let's test this quick.

Now if they just released a damn wireless modem-router combo board things would be a lot easier. Sadly there are no plans on their part to do so, to the best of our knowledge.

Would love it if we could get a Mikrotik RB with ADSL built-in as we have to install an ADSL modem (in bridge mode) at every client were we install a RB.

What happens if you're streaming and someone else starts streaming? 10Mbps means less worrying about what others are up to on your connection.

3 of us stream. My Q Trees in my Mikrotik router handles it all pretty well, never a issue.

In my opinion why these AIO routers keeps on tripping themselves lol. This is at least as I see it in my head, so the pics might not be accurate when looking at them. :p

We've picked this up with Hulu. They've changed some things on their end and we're looking into optimising certain things again on our side now.

I hate it when they make changes. We've reported this to the team and they're working on optimising it again properly.

Any further updates on the Hulu situation? I tried several times over the weekend and still had issues with constant buffering. Last night I switched between Hulu and Netflix on my Roku to check that it wasn't a general issue with my connection. I was able to stream for 15-20 minutes on Netflix without issue, but would have 6-7 buffering interruptions on Hulu during a similar streaming period.

Just tested Hulu now and it played Gotham S01E01 on high without a murmur.
Is the Hulu problem across the board or is it maybe regional?

I'm considering signing up with Hulu so any feedback would be great, if you can include your region too that would be awesome :)

I actually suspect it may be the config on Unotelly. We are testing it. Can you post your Unotelly config and let others try to replicate, Gboss?

I changed over to Afrihost last night because all videos buffered, hulu, gorrilavid, etc.
I didn't have the same problem when I changed isp.

I'm still battling to understand how this works, surely exchange congestion won't do that?

You think you're battling? Try a Mweb Fon router, a congested exchange and a impatient mac user at work. :p

Did you play it with a browser or an app? With a browser it streams at a lower resolution. I have terrible buffering with Hulu on my Roku.

My issues are via a Roku as well.

I cannot change the DNS settings on the Roku device, so my Unotelly DNS settings are done on the router. Would be keen to apply any changes in config which may improve the situation, so please share.

I'm playing it through firefox using the Hola unblocker plugin.
I'm going to see if I can play Hulu through XBMC, Hulu on high doesn't look as crisp as a 720p YouYube video tho..

I just wish to profusely apologise to Crystal Web that I understood 24/7 support incorrectly. I did not realise it means that after seven days of 24 hours the support ticket will be created and that Crystal Web will then start looking and considering whether at some time in the future they might render support.

I left Afrihost earlier this month after having paid them the subscription for October as I could not continue with their line speeds/throttling or their support. And paid full subscription for October again at Crystal Web (after first receiving an inflated incorrect invoice). I was happy to do that as based on their promises and prior comments they seemed to be the ideal ISP. But alas, apparently not to be.

Is there anybody that can recommend an ISP with decent line speeds, no throttling and that does give support ( I very occasionally need support for some basic things, I wont even request support for the intricate stuff as that is far above the head of a simple old man). Or is what I am looking for a non-existent thing in South Africa

Hi Henk. I apologise for the support you received. The delay was not acceptable - your support request came during a large upgrade and we let you down there. Apologies.

However your support request was for a product completely out of the ordinary that we typically do not offer, but an agent for some or other reason agreed to it, and we decided as management to abide by the promise our agent made. In light of that, it was taken over by management 2 days ago, authorised, and the details you requested were sent to you today.

While I can completely understand your frustration with the lack of feedback on our part, I must stress that behind the scenes we decided to go over and above and offer you a service for free that is not part of our catalogue of offerings, as one of our own representatives made such a commitment to you, and it's the right way to do things. All necessary details were sent to you earlier today to the best of my knowledge.

A call is also scheduled from one of our directors to you today, to apologise for the lack of feedback you've received from us.

I previously had email set up with old Axxess email address. I then received support from Axxess so that I could access their webmail and would be able to forward/redirect my email to a Crystal Web email address. They could also auto forward it. What I requested from Crystal Web was extremely simple, I requested an Crystal Web email address and that my email setup be changed from the Axxess email to the Crystal Web email I requested support with this as I do not have the know how to do the change myself. Basic I asked for a crystal Web email address and assistance to set it up. Are you telling me that your Crystal Web internet does not include email address, that it is something totally new and unique to you and that you had to extensively for a week work on it to provide email address.

Henk, I don't believe that this is the correct avenue to answer all of these but I shall nonetheless.

We offer ADSL services, and value adds are to be released in the next few weeks. Since the inception of Gmail and other such services, the market for hosted email from your ISP is really minimal, and we have no plans to offer it as a standard service for such little reward to the vast majority of customers, but we made an exception in your case in light of what was promised to you.

The agent in question realised that he made a mistake and tried to pretend it never happened - he kept it from management until two days ago after we discovered the ticket and questioned him about it. I authorised it yesterday, and asked that a mail be sent to you requesting the particulars for your account.

That's how this panned out, and I apologise that it has resulted in such a poor experience with us so far. An honest error was made on our side, and the agent in question (being a little on the young and immature side) simply hoped it would fade away and not be picked up on. It's not how we do business, and action has been taken internally to rectify this moving forward.

We have already sent the details, and are happy to assist to guide you through the setting up of the mail on your side if need be.
