Still had the issues with ability delays in eso last night. Unplayable like that for anything but mat collecting. Switched to the backup mweb account and no problems...

Sorry I must ask, what is a Chief Barking Officer?
our press release will be made after the close of business today, we've afforded the media a pre-release opportunity and have been caught a little off guard by lap dog appointments in the sector which have necessitated making the announcement earlier than originally planned.

Ahh.

We are busy doing a few configuration changes on the live chat systems, so they've gone offline for a bit. We will process tickets as quickly as possible and get live chats back up.

Just browsed the web site, enjoyed this part "You shouldn’t need a bolt-on/add-on just to make a Skype call."

Congrats to the new hire :D

Still got the same spike on my smokeping graphs. I have added a few hops to the smokeping graphs, will see what happens.

Will post the graphs tomorrow evening.

That new hire looks like a real b!tch.

In other news, Wildstar is looking tons better on CW account! Averaging 308 latency in the capital city. Time to get out in to the world and do some combat me thinks :)

By the way, a few things to mention about Wildstar latency (and other online games). Ping and latency are 2 different mistresses, and Ping (the lower number people are fooled by, because it is just a measurement of your PC to the server) is generally mistaken for latency (the full round trip). Wildstar has shown this in a very nice addon that measures latency and ping, and gives you a better overview as to what might be going wrong. So my ping at the moment is averaging 201ms, but my latency is averaging 308ms.

On other accounts, I generally see latency of 240ms average, while ping is only on 180ms or so, which is generally what one would expect is excellent "latency" according to other game's in game ping meters.

So it's getting better, not quite there yet but it is playable. I am scared to test it in a large scale PvE scenario though.

Ok, enough typing, lets go try this sucker out!

It looks amazingly similar to the backblaze storage pods... ;)

As far as I remember, there was a post by some involved party giving backblaze credit for inspiring (if not guiding) the netflix openconnect appliances.

You can even get those locally if you really want to :P

Backblaze storage pod chassis? Or complete systems like from 45drives? Who/where?

With ICASA appearing to re-interfere on the content regulations openconnect type appliances might become entirely useless in SA for reasons other than IPConnect pricing.... :(

Yep, unfortunately some people who talk about net neutrality and how everything should be treated equally don"t really know how the modern internet works, what makes it work well, or the economic drivers that make it possible for it to work well. While I doubt there are any openconnect appliances in SA, there are a few CDN deployments, it would be unfortunate if they weren't allowrd any more.

The service charter draft also seems to be written by people who don't understand the importance of affordability or efficiency.
