Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

Does Crystal Web know anyone that I can contact in the Cape Town Telkom regional offices to escalate an exchange congestion problem to? The Call center has no clue. Most of their social media team seem to be blissfully unaware even though one of their team has acknowledged a problem (that was first reported in April!). Unfortunately the one guy who has a clue can't give us an ETA on when this is getting fixed.

I'm guessing I'm going to have to throw my toys out of the cot in order to get someone to fix this, but before then I'd like to see if I can get help in resolving this problem through alternative channels.

You're in CapeTown man, partake in some of the ganja, all will be copacetic after that.

okay, I'm gonna shoot a fukking purple flame, just got a call from a telkom techie:

Him: "I believe there's a problem with your ADSL, what's wrong with your line"
Me: "I don't know, do you think I'm a fukking brain surgeon?"
Him: "er, sorry?"
Me: /deep breaths

Then I explained the situation for the fukking I don't know how manyeth time...

Him: "erh, so you've got not internet?"
Me: "no"
Him: "okay, so your address is "recites address"
Me: "yes"
Him: "can I have directions, I want to come and test your line"

I'm now waiting for him to arrive so that I can shove a Telkom instrument up his arse whilst I explain that the whole problem, even by Telkom's own admission this morning, is at the fukking exchange!

The latest turn of events is a good sign. CW ADSL is performing great now :)

The short answer is it would be great if Telkom actually worked like that in the first place, and allowed us to report this kind of thing to the appropriate regional offices.

The longer answer is that Telkom's qualification criteria for a congested exchange is not what yours and our criteria are, and that we're not at liberty to send out the contact details we have to customers. We need to manage these relationships carefully from our perspective and it's not going to bode well for us handing out our Telkom contacts to consumers and possibly destroying any trust we have with these contacts.

If there was an easier way to do this other than the call centre, we'd happily advise it and spread the word, but for now the contact centre at 10210 is the best placed to deal with consumer issues, I'm afraid. I wish we could be of more help to customers where Telkom is involved.

Once you have finished performing an experimental form of surgery on said individual, let us know so we can call

Would you like us to sharpen a router for you? The support staff member who cocked up the last time with your query could do with some manual labour.

Thanks. Thought I'd give it a shot. Looks like my best shot is to go make some Telkom store employee's life hell if I don't get some information regarding this soon.

pm TelkomZA?

Done. Only one guy (Charl - who's actually been very helpful and called me to talk about the issue) on the TelkomZA team knew what I was talking about, and it took me recording latencies for an entire evening for the person I had been talking to to ask him about the data I was sending through. His response "the problem has been logged but there's no ETA on the fix". This is for a problem that was first recognised in April.

Sigh, I so wish Telkom Mobile will do some magic and allow us to dial our isp's via the mobile way. The first time I heard about this is when a friend working at Telkom told me they are testing this and that it might become a possibility in the near future. Fingers crossed.

I want to join Crystal Web - maar ek is bang. Are all the teething issues resolved? :)

Fighting is not welcome here..

Go to the pub if you feel the need to klap someone.
