Galaxy S4.
Started chowing the battery so I downloaded the latest Omega rom for it.

If you want good battery you should give Ozcan or Prism ROM a spin. I can go almost 2 days on 1 charge on either ROM.
Prism is a barebones ROM so if your SO like the Sammy apps best not use it.

She charges every night, so not really a requirement. I know omega, so sticking with the familiar. Didn't install any of the stock apps anyway ;)

Something was really stuffed up with the stock rom. 7 hours to kill the battery. 30% screen usage, but the phone was getting hot next to the speaker (I assume that's where the CPU is)...

I charge every night too but extra battery is always welcome :D

Does your wife have the i9505 or the i9500?

I had heating issues with my i9500 but since moving to 4.4.2 the phone doesn't get hot unless playing Real Racing or DT2. I use a repacked kernel with some init.d tweaks maybe that helps...
Testing MIUI KitKat now and the battery life isn't that good :(

This is CW thread is TK so derails are to be expected right?

It's a 9500, was running the latest firmware.

Same as mine. She shouldn't be getting any heating issues, they have since been fixed with the latest firmware.
If you want you can try the kernel that I use, just flash it via your recovery and see if it fixes the heating.
Ozcan's repacked kernel

I tried Omega's ROM but found it a bit laggy, especially when opening the Dialer sheesh would take like 4 seconds to open the first time.

Well, she says the phone feels a lot snappier, more responsive now... so who knows :)

My phone always feels snappier after an update, till I bog it down with BBM and a zillion games LOL

If it's working then I say don't touch it.

PS: if it still gets hot try the kernel ;)

It doesn't get hot any more... Was the first thing I checked.
I didn't wipe, so all her apps and data are still there and untouched. Omega is a LOT more responsive than stock bloaty rom.

You did a dirty flash!? I see you like to live dangerously LOL
Samsung's ROM's are just shyte to say the least. I don't run stock sammy ROM's for the same reason.

lol

root
philz touch
recovery mode, install zip file :p
The omega install cleans out the cache and dalvik automatically.

Still dirty coz you didn't wipe data/system or use the clean for new ROM option in Philz touch recovery.
But hey it's not your phone ;) :p hehehehehehe

Mine's now in a bakkie ;)

Good good..

My goal for this weekend, is to move my ADSL line into the cabinet so that I can start using the Mikrotik as a basic gateway whilst building up the other rules...

That and the fact that my Wireless router is starting to act up and just randomly disconnecting the ADSL connection.

Hey CW... where can we check our usage currently?
I think I found a "small" problem on my network last night....

So how am I doing in a "TK" thread? I tried poking my head in the official one once or twice.... place scared me.... :D
