No problem. Support is available 24 hours per day so next time you notice it (and if you're up) have a chat with the guys and let them run some tests for you. :)

CW I was thinking now, if we pay you guys the Unotelly fee and you subscribe on our behalf to the unotelly service itself, can you default our DNS from your side that it will always be on Unotelly? I know it is easy to do it myself, but just wondered.

Problem is with associating your IP address with your account on Unotelly's servers.

Sinbad, Electric, yeah I hear what you guys are saying. Luckily I have the DNS on my RB and it works great. I am currently a weekly tester of Unotelly though (Till they change it and I have to pay lol).
 
Maybe someone here can help (TK moment) My one friends company is looking for a NAS server that can store 240TB of space and must be on RAID as one volume. They don't want the system that costs almost a million.

for what purposes though - a lot of the pricing bump up is because of throughput needs. A single workstation having access to the stored archive content can be McGuyvered for a completely different price

My friend works with the company that catches poachers, especially in the KZN area also. He programs those remote planes with the Full HD cams. So this server will be to store cam footage. Best part is he said that will only be ok for a year, then on to the next server LOL.

We need to store 25GB per hour. That is 600GB per day, and 220TB per year.
So we would like to purchase a device that can store 220TB. For the next 5 years we would like to expand that by 220TB per year.
• 220TB storage
• Proper RAID 5 or similar.
• Hot spares drives
• 2 x 1gbps network adapters
• Would prefer to use SATA desktop drives (And use hot spares)

Ah right, there definitely is a way to approach a storage solution here that IMHO will make more sense than you default configuration thinking and will be cheaper. Site is also quite important. Moreover while you'll want live recordings going back some surely archiving to tape after a year makes more sense.

This definitely sounds more like you require some type of archiving solution where data older than x period is sent off to tape... that can be retrieved at a later date.

Any storage solution that has 240TB of live access data is going to be pricey...

Funny enough we were just discussing that option now.
 
I'm getting complaints from the houshold that BF4 on the PS3 is unplayable from 22:00 - 01:00 and also Youtube is basically unplayable during that time.
I think it could be my QoS that has gone South, but would like to check my exchange, etc as well.

I would like run MTR and have it start automatically and end according to times I set.
How can I do that in Win 7?
Will scheduler do this or will some script or bat file do it?
Also how do I set the destination to test?

Yep on the specs you put up - after I posed, bad saa044 :p - I really do think you need to reign in the live access approach

But also workstation access comes into play here - why the throughput of 2Gbps? Remember SANs have both an underlying storage and a processing of the stored data (to deliver it) component

Just to give you a rough idea...

A proper, extensible storage solution with about 20TB of data in a proper redundant setup that can be used as SAN (so less than 20TB accessible)... is going to set you back about R300k.... and about 30% of that cost is the drives, so do some rough extrapolation to get to your 240TB figure... you will shyte bricks.

A better option is to say keep a 2 weeks worth of data in live access, and then archive the older stuff onto tape, it will be much cheaper in the long run, and you can duplicate the tapes and have one stored offsite for security purposes.

2 weeks was a thumbsuck :)....

I was also wondering why the footage needs to remain in its raw format?

May even a better idea, have 2 systems.. one that backs up the raw video to tape to be stored onsite and offsite (might be necessary from some legal reason), and then a storage solution that takes the raw footage and compresses it with a decent codec of some form, Reckon you could get 25GB per hour down to 3 or 4GB per hour.... then have a month or 2 in live access and the rest archived onto tape again.
