@CW are there any issues with the Ticket System? I logged a ticket yesterday at 13:19 but have not had a response or acknowledgement of the ticket. It's still open under My Tickets.

I have to agree with you in that aspect. It's just strange that everybody on this forum are raving about how amazingly twitch streams on CW. For some reason I just don't see it. I'll have a chat with the live support and see what they can do.
Twitch USED to be great on CW. But it's been terrible for weeks now. I can't watch a Medium stream on a 10Mb line without it buffering a ton. I spoke to live support about it and they basically say there is nothing they can do, it's Twitch's fault.
I guess only IS knows how to get Twitch right.

CW, please poach some IS staff for this ;D

According to them, it's exchange congestion...
BTW anyone want to buy a CW account? This account is useless to me now as my afrihost business account outperforms it in twitch

Got a response from Major Support at 9:30 :D, I'm guessing the General was busy yesterday :p

I had a similiar issue last night, could not stream Twitch in 480P without buffering, this is on a 10mb account and 8mb line :/

Oh my god, seriously, I just signed up and the account would be active on the 01/11/2014, need to cancel the 10Mbps account if Twitch buffers....

Can someone please explain the absolute fascination with things like Twitch to me.. I just don't see the point at all...

the names represent internal process controls - general support is the help desk
major support picks up problems - such as tickets not attended to

I was of the same opinion a few months ago, I now watch twitch nearly every day. The assumption is you watch twitch to see people play games. The reality is you watch twitch to watch personalities or pro's play games.

Some of the people who stream have either very funny or very interesting personalities making their content very entertaining to watch.

Watching pro's play is more obvious, it's the whole eSports thing which is also very entertaining to a large group of people.

Just spoke with the network team about Twitch (for the umpteenth time). Apparently Twitch recently changed things on their end with respect to their streaming - we made some changes on our end to try to classify it properly again and it was mostly successful, but Twitch appear to be making more changes again. We've asked Twitch for feedback but it's not yet forthcoming. One of the engineers however was able to make one or two changes on his end and got Twitch streaming perfectly, so I've asked him for a report on this and we will put it together for you guys to advise on the best way to get Twitch working 100% as an interim measure.

The longer term measure on our part is we are waiting for feedback on whether the changes Twitch are making are permanent, and if not, what the permanent changes are going to be. If you're not aware, Twitch were recently acquired by Amazon, and will hopefully be moving their streaming over to proper CDN nodes on Amazon's network. Unfortunately there are no local Amazon CDN nodes (yet) but it does mean that we'll see far better performance overall from Twitch in the coming months.

EDIT: just got the feedback report and will post some detail shortly for you guys.

I can kind of get it... for maybe watching interesting interviews, or major events.. but every day... nope sorry, i have better things to do with my life and my internet time..

Granted this is just my opinion.

How to get the best from Twitch:

Switch to local Unotelly DNS servers
Switch off your antivirus while watching

Apparently some of the ports are being blocked by antivirus software due to recent changes, and we are also seeing better throughput to Twitch when proxying authentication to Twitch's DNS servers instead. It gives us some data to work with on our end as well to optimise it, and I've advised the guys to look into this as soon as we get feedback on Twitch's final networking redesign.

I hope this helps some of you with Twitch streaming issues.

CW the chat thing you use now, I like the design and all, but one thing still bugs me. New text either from my side or the agents side will not be visible. When I try to scroll down it just goes back up again. A page refresh normally fixes this.

Makes two of us

Please let us know if this does help anyone with Twitch streaming as it would be vital feedback to get.

There are two sides to Twitch. Both heavily gaming focussed.

1. Connecting with personalities. Maybe you like his sense of humour. Think of it like watching PewDiePie or Yogscast. Except on Twitch you can interact with them in real time via the chat system.

2. Big Gaming Tournaments. Things like the International are huge on Twitch. It's great following your teams compete with great commentary in your language. Think of it like supersport for gamers.

Yesterday we were able to get live support online pretty quickly for you guys but it did mean that we needed to defer some upgrades which we are completing at the moment, so live support may be offline until about 6pm this evening (current ETA, but hopefully back up sooner than that)

Ah well, I will have to contact you this evening then when I get home (which would be easier seeing as I will be able to get a clearer view as to what is going on).

I'm getting erratic problems with slow internet and unable to connect to mail servers, have rebooted modem twice today
