Earth,
Afrihost is on borrowed time and I'm not into jumping around from ISP to ISP. I need to make a decision before the end of the month and not wanting to spend more than I need for Netflix, P2P for three people and gaming for one.

Who is my best bet for uncapped (10Mbps) smoothness,Crystal or Fatty's?

Thanks

Biased opinion based on personal experience - crystalweb.

Been a Crystalweb supporter for a long time (almost since the very beginning) and haven't looked or considered changing ever since.

Service is smooth and efficient, and when not, they actually do listen and provide constructive and transparent feedback.

My experience with CW:

Pros:
- Excellent latency
- Great network in general
- Extremely reliable
- Super fast live chat support
- Friendly customer service
- CEO chills on MyBB (DJ)
- Premium news server included

Cons:
- Pricier than most ISPs
- Portal site is still on the way
- Have to rely on daily emails for monitoring usage
- No data rollover

That's it basically. Decide what's important to you. The low latency means streaming and gaming is exceptional. I could even notice a difference when browsing the web after using an Afrihost account for a bit.

Was with CW for a long time, great service and no issues.

Currently with Vox, their 300GB (now 400GB) special with rollover for around 450 a month was just too good not to try out. Currently have over a TB of "day" data in the rollover stack. Have no issues with this service either.

I know you were asking about uncapped, but I was on 20MB business uncapped with AH before and with the free 0-6 data I could easily scale back to a capped account.

I have 1.2TB rollover with Vox. Guess what I can just as well have none, because on a 40Mb/s VDSL line I can barely download 50GB in 24 hours. With CW I average 15GB per hour. So it depends what you want, pay less for inferior quality ?

I also have no complaints with Vox have mutliple streams running on Kodi, Youtube, etc. all the same time without buffering. P2P seem to be touch and go sometimes but I dont download often so I dont really care.

I get line speed (20MB Adsl) any time. So from where I am based in Durban it works just as well as CW.

Mileage obviously varies based on a lot of factors.

Thanks for all your input. I do like that with Vox you get to roll the data over. But with CW you have better after sales support from reading on the forums.

And yes you get what you pay for and seeing that I don't support DSTV I might as well spend the little extra.

325GB capped + Midnight Express @ R799 ? or 10Mbps Premium Home Uncapped @ R799 ?

I'd say go for the capped and if you feel you need to adjust the package on the same or higher price-point you can do so at any time, and the guys on live chat can actually do so instantly for you.

Welcome to Crystal Web...:)

Indeed you get what you pay for.

Been with VOX, Afrihost, Axxes and CrystalWeb. All this year in an attempt to save a little money as CrystalWeb is a bit more expensive.

No-one competes with CrystalWeb in terms of pure performance, stability and support. The others aren't bad but they all have niggles, CrystalWeb have none.

This makes me happy to my core. Thank you for the wonderful feedback which will certainly make everyone's day here...:)

I used VOX for the past year. I used various other ISPs before or in between. VOX was great in the beginning. It's horrible now (still have a 25GB account).

Only found out about CW about 2 months ago. There is just no other ISP that comes anywhere close to CW when it comes to performance and stability. Browsing is snappy, streaming works every time without buffering, downloads always run at full speed. RDP and SSH connections to abroad servers, what a smooth experience. On the business standard capped.

Also been with Vox for a long time (and still retaining the account because I'm one of those lucky enough to have one of the early Fatpipe accounts that is unrivalled from cost/benefit perspective).

My primary account however is now CrystalWeb, and I can echo what the others have said, the performance, stability and service is unparalleled amongst the ISP's I've experienced (Mweb, Afrihost, Plugg, Connection, Axxess and Vox).

ISP performance seems heavily dependant on where you stay. Exchange issues, quality of copper and IPC in the region are always causing problems for people.

My line has been pretty stable (bar ASSIA in the past) so for me Vox and CW are pretty even in terms of performance in Durban North.

Had a CW Business Capped and Vox Fat pipe now. If the Vox account goes belly up then CW would be top of my list of guys to use again.

Surely if one has a crappy line like me, does it matter which isp you are with? Ive always wondered this. Ive been with Axxess briefly, and Telkom and Afrihost. Non of them using their data will solve my congestion issues. Or am i talking out of backside here?
