CSGO Sticky thread

Valve's CSGO dev team added Direct3D 9Ex. Finally.

To enable it add -d3d9ex as a optional command to your command line. It should reduce the system resource load and make the application, CSGO, run smoother (or being perceived as smoother). I doubt you will get more FPS.

Check the patch notes. It is still being tested and since it is a real-time mechanic it may cause 'early' graphical glitches until the devs work everything out.

This is actually good news for the laptop and lower end players as these systems usually have less powerful CPUs which aren’t upgradeable.

Supposed to reduce the game's system memory usage...from what I can see on reddit people are saying almost unanimously that alt+tabbing is much faster (like switching browser windows fast). Some people are reporting higher FPS, some lower...the usual CSGO thing.

Here's something cool though -

Added communication options in Game Settings which allow the following:
  • Mute enemy team
  • Block communication from everyone except players you are friends with or players in your matchmaking party
  • Hide avatar images
  • Change names of players not on your friends list to something neutral

Wonder if that means the enemy team will have names like an Overwatch case? :p

I read the patch notes, it is weird that they are only now adding quality of life improvements when the game's mere existence is hanging on the popularity of eSports.

Apex: Legends is also digging into this game's player base.

I mean, 9Ex isn't exactly new technology, however it should make better use of your processing threads for load distribution which will free up more physical memory. So yah, benefit for all, pending on your CPU.

The rest of the functionality is welcomed. It was already asked in this thread how to mute others and now it is a actual feature.
