You guys watch any of the Major yesterday? I caught a couple games...standout was Envyus and Liquid going to triple overtime after Envyus led 15-7 in the 1-map format. Was crazy...JW pulled off an awp ace in a 1 v 5 in regulation time. Insane.

Didn't play at all this weekend or Friday.

Twitch is often stuttery and annoying no matter what I do (so I don't even bother anymore). It's on GOTV so I watch there since I can get a 1080p "stream" for a lot less bandwidth than a Youtube 1080p video. Also, I can use the saturation settings in CSGO to make it look pretty on my TV in the lounge :)

is there a way to watch GOTV without having to open the game up say on browser or something like that?

Watch it on youtube then, I guess...they do the direction for you. It's the same stream (casters, POV's) as GOTV - go check the eleague channel for their livestream.

It looks much, much better through the game client though for less bandwidth.

It does look much better in game and uses probably not even 10% of the data but it's Youtube for me because I want to watch it at night in bed on my iPad.

I would like a .dem video player. I usually download the matches in-game, then watch them later. I also use it to analyse certain players.

I am back to DMG. For some reason, I'm back on the killing spree in competitive mode.

I stopped playing at the start of January, so by the time I queued with you guys I was already out of the rythm. Friday I should have expected a derank, I basically played properly a month ago.

It will look better because it's not actually a video stream, the "video" you see is created via the source engine as when spectating a normal match, youtube etc would stream the captured video output as a proper video stream thus the massive difference in data and quality. I'm probably stating the obvious here though

You are but it's still a good explanation and someone might not realise this and find it useful.

That is also the reason a .dem video player will never exist, the .dem file is just the "telemetry" of a match, which the Source engine "renders" for you.

Yip, I reckon it's pretty damn nifty compared to traditional streaming/video.

I am more interested in an dev tool to analyse .dem recordings. There are analytic tools such as CSGO Demos Manager and others like Demo Browser, but I want an all-in-one tool where the CSGO Demo Analyzer is lacking. The built-in Source Recorder allows to output an edit into .avi, but it takes the analysing aspect away.

Maybe with Valve considering to release Source 2 as open-source there may be third-party tools one day to come…

Here is a rather big screen snip I made on Virtus.Pro vs Optic Gaming,

Demo snip.jpg

This was done with CSGO Demos Manager, but I want this tool integrated within the in-game CSGO Demo viewer/editor. Clicking to see grenade throws, positioning, kills, etc. live is time consuming to access the game every time to see a play.

Anyway, those wanting to learn how pros utilise nades, use this tool.
