CSGO Sticky thread

I opened one case. Got some blue origami shorty or something. Decided to never do that again.

Apart from not having to use the chat key. How is TS exactly more beneficial to the game than the in-game chat (voice) itself?

I'll enter a random lobby and the guys will ask me to join TS.

Individual volume control. Voice level mic activation is good. Can still communicate if steam crashes ("just pause, I'll be back in 30 seconds" as opposed to "crikey, he is gone, is he coming back? We don't know") etc.

All valid points, thanks a bunch for this. ^_^

Didn't know about these functions, I'm kind of in a make-shift right now using my studio mic, so don't really want all my business up in the lobby when I have random chats on the side lol.

I have this same issue with Teamspeak, thats why i bound my numpad * key to be Mute mic, so when ever i need to sneeze or chat to someone i smack that key and it mutes the mic. I also bound my number / key to mute volume incase someone calling me and i cannot hear them. TS is way better than the ingame chat! have having to press Z all the time to chat in game. Annoying when you are in a gun fight

I did this as well. Just bind a key to mute your mic in ts and another to mute your sound in ts. That way whenever you want to chat to someone else you hit mute and have at it. It is far easier than pushing a button whenever you want to speak.

Thanks for the tips again guys will definitely check into it.

I'm using this CM Storm devastator:

There's that odd Back/Forward buttons on the side thats actually placed pretty well for my thumb to reach,
I've mapped the 'back' for in-game chat and don't find it too obstructing, but obviously having to push nothing to talk is much better.

Is anyone else having issues with finding Competitive matches? I had to wait for 15 minutes last night before finding a match, and again this morning 15 minutes.

Nope, never had issues.

It could be that it's quiet in your bracket. Mostly late at night/early morning I also wait a bit. And during school hours. But from around 14:00 till about 23:00 matches are just about instant or longest about 3 minutes.

Forgot to say - I play as ^2pro^4digy or something like that. I forget the numbers bit...I put them in for MW2 (the numbers changed the colours) and never took them out again. Haven't played any competitive games...only recently started playing regularly (haven't plugged my headset in yet :o).

Re TS - pretty much every time I play, someone gets accused of using teamspeak in clutch situations. You guys suck :p

Play comps, you will NEVER play casual again unless you warming up :p Some of us have other accounts to warm up with in comps

i just got ranked, bit confused on how the ranking system sets ur rank the 1st time.... I play with a friend who is good at it, but i am better, he is even confused, but he got gold nova 2 and i got silver 4? does anyone have an idea how it sets ur rank for the 1st time? I have lost a couple more comps than him, he only lost one. could it be that?

I ranked SEM first time. Then I jumped between SE and SEM a few times. If you lobby with higher ranked players, you will rank higher. If you dont lobby with higher ranked players, it will really not be easy to rank out of the Silver Ranks. Ask me, I dropped to Silver 3 after leaving comps for a few months, and am stuck there now.

There is also no definitive guide available on how the ranks work and get assigned, but from my understanding the MVP stars in game, looses and wins are used for the calculations, alongside other stuff. I'm not sure what other stats are used though. Some Youtubers refer to top fragging and bottom Fragging having a lot of influence as well.

Agreed. I think it's got to do with your K/D ratio and other factors too now when they allocate you your rank. Also the win/loss ratio and your accuracy. I used to be DMG. Didn't play for a while now I struggle to get above MG1. I go to MG1 then back to Nova 4 and so on. As for Stillie, enjoy Silver man. Once you hit the Nova's people start raging at you :p
