CSGO Sticky thread

I think it is going to be a while before I am ready for comp
Took me a few months before I was confident enough to play a comp. Probably 130+ hours. Once I played my first comp I was hooked. I play with MarkedOne777 very often (when I'm not too busy with other stuff). He is a very good player and teacher as well.

I still play some casual as well from time to time (I play DM's to warm up for comps), and surf fairly often as well. Just stick to the core weapons for now (AK-47, M4 without a silencer, USP-S, P250, Tec-9, Five-7, Glock18 and the AWP). Once you get a hang of them, join Arms Race and try to see how the others work. Also, don't be afraid of ending last on the leader board, that means nothing.

Let me guess...you knifed him?

Pffft Urban, so little faith in your protege! I'm extremely proud to say that I killed Soul Assassin ... once. In between he killed me like 15 times :D

My kill to death ratio is definitely improving, from 30 deaths and 1 kill, now to around 10 kills and 25 deaths ... I just need to work on my accuracy a LOT.

Here's the million dollar question: in Deathmatch is one supposed to pick a gun one prefers, or just accept whatever one is given randomly? I find it very hard to keep switching guns every time I'm killed, and some of those guns are just not very good.

You can switch random weapons on and off with F3. I would suggest picking one weapon and practicing with it.

*facepalm* Just another of those little things that one doesn't get told about anywhere else. Why is CS:GO deliberately obscure?

+1.

And avoid the Deagle for now. It takes hours to get the One taps flowing. The idea with the Deagle is to get one taps, or to get one tapped if you don't get it first.

Ok noted, definitely wasn't going that route lol. When should one press F3 - once the game has already started?

You can press it in the DM, only need to press it once. To buy press "b".

That much I do know at least :P So long as the weapon is persistent it'll be great. I hated having to re-buy the same weapons each time in the classic bomb mode. Is there any way to bind a weapon purchase to a key?
