CSGO Sticky thread

*cough*....that's why I only gave $20.

@tribble - the donation thing said she was looking for a streaming PC - I assumed that meant a second machine.
No that is an old PC we put a new graphics card into and added more RAM to. She has a laptop but that was not able to handle streaming. I work on both my laptop and desktop so could not give it to her. Besides - what would the boys play on if she took my machine? We also bought a new monitor, mechanical keyboard, gaming mouse, camera, headset. And we needed to see that this was going to take off and she would stick to it and not be a passing fad. And nothing wrong with making kids (19) earn a bit of cash to get what they want.

Exactly right grandma.

Make them earn it. She’s stuck to her guns though, it’s impressive. Are you planning a new system for her?

lol I am the only one that actually knows the potential of what she is doing. I have to fight for every item we give her. Others are not able to see that this is actually a viable activity. They have not even really watched her play and have no concept what it means to be good at the game. To them it is just wasting time.

I know what you mean yea. You’re getting there though

It's exhausting. And I know that she really has the potential - I mean she went from MG to Global rather quickly - and she has stayed there. And she is entertaining on the stream.

Getting 200 viewers as a South African streamer is a pretty big deal. I don't frequent Twitch that much except when tournaments are on but that's the most people I've seen watching a local streamer. Well done to her.

The 2 main set-ups for streaming are using one powerful (and expensive) main PC to do both jobs or 2 computers, one to play on and another that does the encoding and broadcasting to Twitch. The second option can be cheaper especially if you have hardware lying around. The laptop might be able to do the job with a USB capture card. Something to look into.

Good advice.
@KT-B - if you’re looking for a second PC,
Let me know. I have one for you.

Thanks I didn't realise this. Will look into it

More cores, definitely. When UrBaN says i7, I'm sure he means the latest ones with more physical cores. Ryzen is an excellent choice for streaming but if she's going pro those frames per second are going to matter... Intel has the advantage there.

Not so much with CS:GO though. That game came out when I was just a young fetus and will run on a calculator I bet. But she'll want to play other games eventually.

I missed the stream. :crying:

She plays a lot of Fortnite. So yes - lots of other games too.

It will have to wait a bit - but we are working on it.
