Anyway I deleted the game and the game files as well and am now re-downloading. Had some other .cfg file in which set rate to 128 (I think default is 64). It never made a difference before but perhaps something is wrong - or my re-installation efforts will also be in vain and it is simply an ISP routing issue.

Certainly not a speed issue at least:

That config has been edited to death, but just copy my RATES, also make sure for mat_queue_mode 2 (or -1 for default of your system). Valve servers are by default and standard 64 tick.

Problem lying with Telkom's routing.

Hooked up to my phone (MTN) and ping went down to the 30s.

Everything else seems to work fine though.

Playing on a somewhat dated gaming laptop with GTX 965 so cannot run 128 tick.
 
Tonight I have determined that I can't play this game and that I need to learn how to play this game.
 
the last few games (4-5) have been globals and supremes. Matchmaking has decided it hates us (we're LEM to LE).

You won't be able to tank or push the top 2% without team strats and team comms. Aggressiveness on CT is now a job. Just the way it is, you need to outplay them in your own zone.

Did you at least won a match or came close against them?

Sidelines = Preparation for tomorrow.
 
Another question here.

I am unranked and have yet to play a single competitive match. I have been trying to find a competitive game to play so I can get better at the game and perhaps start ranking. I am Level 7 on the XP ranking system through casual play.

Doesn't seem I can find a game at all, I am trying Dust 2 only now as I figured that should give me the best chance of finding a game. How long should I wait to get a game? Waiting time is below 3 mins according to the game, yet even after waiting several times I can't find a game.

Add more maps, should get you a quicker find times but 2 or 3 mins is normal
 
Sometimes we can wait 20 min. That would be 4 mins 5 5times at least. What time of the day are you searching?

Trust Factor, queue with a friend or two, who already plays competitive matchmaking, to give you some CS cred.

Competitive matches are 5v5, so a full team is required. Easiest way to get that is to invite 4 people to your lobby and then search, otherwise matchmaking has to fit you into an incomplete team. I’d recommend queuing with some friends. Add me if you like, I’ll join you.
