CSGO Sticky thread

Not going to happen. Faze is a team you need to eliminate early on. Complexity couldn't do that, neither will Cloud9.

Cloud9 definitely aren't the favourites for that match-up but they have a chance with how poor FaZe have looked so far. FaZe are getting by on the occasional magical moment from Niko and Guardian - they'll need more than that to get past better teams.

The game's moved on from aim stars being able to carry for an entire tournament.

Team Liquid is basically only aim stars. Best 1v1 team in the competition.

Faze will turn up, who wants to lose to a second rate NA team?

Team Liquid have players with great aim but their game style is not aim-based. They're like a mini-Astralis...their co-ordination and utility usage is up there with the best. Watch them play Inferno CT or any map T-side and compare that to what FaZe get up to.

Faze is going to rain elimination down on either Astralis or Team Liquid, maybe both.

NiP FTW.

Meh. Not a huge fan of NiP, doubt they'll go further than the quarter finals, but let's see.

Well done @Neoprod with your predictions. It was EZ4ENCE as they move ahead along with FaZe.

I support Na'Vi, here's hoping that they reach the finals (for s1mple and electronic's sake to win a major). But if they face Team Liquid somewhere chances are a given that they'll fall to them.

Have a feeling Astralis will probably take this major again. On the other hand, they can't keep on winning forever, but anything is possible I suppose for them to be bested.

EDIT: Seeing the brackets now on stream for the playoffs, I'll be rooting for ENCE against Team Liquid. I personally hope that it will be EZ4ENCE

I thought you can't stand ENCE?

NiP FTW. Faze will eliminate Team Liquid.

LOL, I can't, but since Team Liquid beat Na'Vi, I'll be rooting for them to remove TL from the competition as I fear Na'Vi might struggle to beat TL for the umpteenth time. But Na'Vi against FaZe should be entertaining, I just hope they bring their a-game as I don't see FaZe moving past semi's.

Being the optimist I will call these teams to proceed:

Faze
Team Liquid
MIBR
NiP

Navi and Faze are in a similar place. Navi without a boot camp will have to be innovative and rely on experience. I think they came prepared and is playing mind games. It can go either way, my money is still on Faze.

I am sure that Team Liquid will take ENCE. ENCE is still rough on the edges and relies much on their IGL, but it doesn't take away that it is a strong Finnish team. Team Liquid is likely to out-aim them 1:1. Allu will need to decide wisely on where to control and where to engage. My money is on Team Liquid, but ENCE can take the match.

I am really unsure about MIBR vs Renegades. Renegades are looking really good. MIBR have grind out more Champion stages than them. It is another match which can go either way, but I will bank on the experience. Go MIBR.

Astralis, by all means, the likely team to be the champion at Katowice 2019, but they are playing a team which knows the game better than most. The problem with NiP is how unpredictable they have become, they have become utterly inconsistent since their heydays. Nobody wants to play against Astralis and nobody wants to play against NiP (when they have reached this stage). Astralis has the best executions, but NiP will delay them as much as possible. NiP will win when Dennis and REZ have their minds in the game. I am concerned that too much weight will be placed on Get Right at lurk and Forest can't control on his own. Lekro is doing well on AWP when he buys AWP, NiP isn't exactly shy on wasting money. Just because... I will back NiP to win. I don't believe Astralis believe they have already won this match.

So...

Faze vs Team Liquid
MIBR vs NiP

Team Liquid will still be thinking about how Allu is so quick with AWP that when they are back in the game that they will be already phased out by Faze. MIBR don't want a rematch with NiP, too much pressure at this stage.

Faze vs NiP

Damn... will be happy with either team to win Katowice 2019. NiP FTW ;)

Bookies, however, will want to see Team Liquid vs Astralis.

In other news, Tarik signed up with NRG, actually swapped out with Fugly at MIBR.

Anyhow, will have to see how things go on Thursday.

This was the last time NiP reached this high,

https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/MLG/2016/Columbus

MLG Major Columbus 2016

1. Luminosity Gaming (I believe this was the squad which became the 1st Brazilian CSGO SK Gaming squad)
2. Natus Vincere
3-4. Astralis (3) / Team Liquid (4)
5. NiP

and never again did NiP taste these seeds up until yesterday.

Nip last won ESL One: Cologne 2014, and was runner up Dreamhack Winter 2013, ESL Major Series One Katowice 2014, Dreamhack Winter 2014 and ESL One: Katowice 2015.

Sad to see where Fnatic dropped out, they have a superb track record close to home.

Maybe history repeats itself, NiP comes in as runners-up but takes gold at Starladder Berlin Major 2019. It may not be Cologne, but Germany nonetheless.

You NiP fanboy you :p

I guess you could call me a Na'Vi one then as well. Anyhow, I doubt NiP will go further than the quarters. I don't see them beating Astralis in their current form (although strange things can happen, but think Astralis have them in the bag).

As for FaZe, way too inconsistent at their last few tournaments of 2018. Niko, Olofmeister and Rain being the biggest 3 culprits in my book that need to up their game for FaZe to be relevant again. I think Na'Vi will beat them, but if they put up a similar performance to what they achieved against C9, then Na'Vi will have their work cut out for them.

Watching the playoffs always makes me nervous when supporting Na'Vi, especially when they go one map down, I turn off the stream, lol. I just hope they can reach the finals again, really want to see s1mple, electronic, flamie and edward to win a major.
