CSGO Sticky thread

I only see now that Evil Geniuses has taken Astralis to the cleaners. NRG did very well up to this point and Evil Geniuses must be happy with this tournament scalp. A bit late to CSGO, but what a start.

rip green \ yellow crosshairs...some of the halls are blue.

for people who actually aim, might be a problem - I should be fine ;p

People playing with high vibrancy, leveraging tools like Vibrance GUI may take a hit, but then we also need to experience the map. It may not be as vibrant as it seems.

I also like the subtle changes they made to the map here and there.

Ignoring all this I see there is another move within the CS community to change the Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists team side names. According to the big names in the game, this is due to sponsor pressure.

Valve hasn’t said anything, the leagues are talking. Gabe will go where the money goes.

A loose proposition is to change Counter-Terrorists vs Terrorists to Offence vs Defence, but originally it was Attack vs Defend.

I am currently using a red crosshair - will see if it works

I play with a small white T-shape crosshair. By small, like only a pixel between the hairs. To be more precise,

// CROSSHAIR
cl_crosshairstyle "4"
cl_crosshairsize "2"
cl_crosshairthickness "1"
cl_crosshairgap "-1"
cl_fixedcrosshairgap "3"
cl_crosshairdot "0"
cl_crosshair_t "1"
cl_crosshairusealpha "1"
cl_crosshairalpha "999"
cl_crosshairstyle 5
cl_crosshair_drawoutline "1"
cl_crosshair_outlinethickness "1"
cl_crosshairgap_useweaponvalue "0"

// WHITE CROSSHAIR
cl_crosshaircolor "5"
cl_crosshaircolor_r "255"
cl_crosshaircolor_g "255"
cl_crosshaircolor_b "255"

Mine is a red little square. Basically the center of the crosshair - I think it is reversed ?

Still don't see how this solves the problem besides many new accounts created to scan crates...

Why do the French get to scan boxes before opening?

I don't like 'surprise mechanic', but this is applied in proper within EU law,

— The X-ray Scanner allows users to reveal the item inside any container.
— Each user’s x-ray scanner comes preloaded with a one-time exclusive non-tradable item—the P250 | X-Ray.
Users in France must first claim this item to use the x-ray scanner again.

In France, containers can no longer be purchased from Steam Community Market, but can still be sold.

Essentially they only have a one-time scan, and when they do scan a 'container', they need to claim the content to reset the one-time scan. It is a legal process done in gaming terms. The Steam Community Market is now a dead-end in France, and the APIs will also likely be updated to block third-party trades with French accounts. Whether the containers will have a France signature I don't know, meaning that it may be traded through a non-French account to a French account bypassing the above implementation. Trade locks will also obviously come into play and I doubt that scanned containers may be sold on the Steam Community Market because it will disrupt the container pricing into absolute mayhem. Think +R1000 containers

Why do the French get to scan boxes before opening?

ARJEL. ARJEL argued that loot boxes always have one item or more - the surprise mechanic. The Netherlands and Belgium have the same stance as ARJEL. ARJEL named it the 'barely missed' mechanic. See this happening elsewhere in the EU.

Not really a win, more like compliance.

Once a crate is scanned, it would probably be made not tradeable. That would be logical.

The scanner thing is a pretty clever workaround...well-played, Gaben.
