CSGO Sticky thread

Tried a VPN?

No, I haven't tried a VPN yet. It seems that their other people outside of Johannesburg with the same issue.

Strange, everything was fine 2 weeks ago... Played a second match tonight which intermittently revved up to 23%... a good game for me is 8%.

Same as what you got in woodwork class

Squelching the Noise
We take feedback about communication abuse seriously, and in the past we’ve shipped settings that let customers control their exposure to other players’ avatars, names, and voice/text chat. (You can find these in Settings->Game->Communication and on the scoreboard). The settings are useful, but they have the downside of squelching communication indiscriminately.

So we’ve been working on a new system that will work more precisely. When the new system is fully deployed, players will receive a warning if they receive significantly more abuse reports than other players.

If they ignore that feedback and continue to receive abuse reports, they’ll receive a penalty: they will be muted by all other players by default. This ‘default mute’ state will remain until the player earns enough XP to remove the penalty, but other players can choose to manually unmute the user (as they would any other muted player).

Because the new system is driven by reports, it lets players establish their own standards for communication and ensure that their fellow players receive anonymous feedback when they’re out of line.

We’ve already started tracking players’ reports with the new system, and you can help us by getting into the habit of reporting abusive players for ‘Abusive Communications or Profile’ when you come across them. Note that reports are weighted higher for players that play more and/or report less frequently, so accounts that generate no XP and/or spam reports will have little to no impact.

 Is Rags a mute now?

Btw, that is a very bad update in my opinion. People will report everything they dislike, and then you have the report bots on the loose as well. Using XP as the timeout mechanic is bloody nonsense.

People should block what they deem abusive themselves and allow others to carry on their way. This will change nothing other than punishing the innocent.

Since the game went F2P, the player base also got a lot younger so I guess there is that in their reasoning. Still, when parents allow their kids on the internetz, they should know... the kids are going to 'grow up' quick.

how do you see that working? I mean is it even a punishment for people not to hear a player in-game? Does it punish the player who is muted or his teammates who would be getting less info? I kinda think it punishes everyone...no comms reduces the chances of winning. I do agree that Valve is solving a problem best left to the players themselves - I expect teammates (and possibly the enemy team) would be un-muting the muted at the start of a game anyway. The enemy to see if the guy is going to say something entertaining and teammates in the hope they haven't been given a d-bag for a teammate.

That's for competitive - in casual, voice comms + chat definitely isn't required. There's usually some tosser playing music anyway so best nip that in the bud and mute everyone. I only turn on voice if Djup is around because he insists on talking to me and I don't want to be a dick :p

Because, by the day, more and more people like it less to be touched on their studio. The more touchy people become, the more they are also trolled. For all of the good intentions behind the new mechanic, there is just as much opportunity to abuse the mechanic.

At the end of the day Valve's job is to keep the wheels turning of their Steam marketplace. Gaming isn't real life where upset people go out to the shops to buy 'cosmetics'. This is Steam's marketplace, it all about bots, gambling, status and the suckers, and it is the suckers who rage quits the Valve marketplace.

This DIG team is going to win a major this year. I don't know what is happening at Dignitas, but they seem to have schit load of money. They opened huge training centres for their dota and lol teams, and made this rather odd call to revive the old NiP crew.

Most negative commentators should know that NiP went to the dogs, they sunk and couldn't manage, sustain and maintain their rosters for a long time. I am hoping that DIG will make these guys great again.

I have checked their minor qualifiers... it is best to watch the highlights, the lowlights not so much.

Anyone spectating the Blast Series? FaZe rekt it in their bracket.

Complexity cancelled out Astralis and is now waiting on Navi and Vitality.
