CSGO Sticky thread

What is your favorite map to play? If its anything but Mirage you will hate it. Don't know a smoke? You will feel it. Didn't clutch a round? Bad news for you... The "better players" understand the game can get tough and don't just rage. On "lower levels" you will get the most toxic experience possible. Everyone thinks they are better than everyone else. "I got 'service' so now I'm pro" is the general mindset I have picked up when watching a few local streamers playing on these third party services. Best part is that responding to them when they are toxic is considered toxic.
Not hard to imagine when the players and admins think they're something special because they can only compete in SA and nowhere else in the world.

Our "pro" scene has always had some of the biggest egos I've seen in my life, much bigger than in any sport such as cricket, rugby etc.

The day I realized it wasn't for me was when another "pro" insulted my teammate about his cancer treatment he had a few years prior, just because he was losing against us.

Ultimately why I left.

The South African CSGO community is more toxic than Chernobyl will ever be. Sad state of affairs but not much that can be done to change it.

Trash talk I get, but going personal isn't cool ever. Wonder if there is any way to get rid of the toxicity.

I just don't get how they expect people to take esports seriously in SA when they act so unprofessionally, you would never see this kind of behaviour in EU.

The problem is that they aren't held accountable for the things they say because they aren't as much in the public eye as other regions.

Last night I deranked hard. I think its time for me to get good and actually learn to play the game now

Funniest VAC ban in CS semi-pro history,

they even called themselves MatchFixers...

The game can be viewed here,

It happened in a ESEA game, not too long ago there was other pro bans on ESEA which has brought the FBI into the ESIC investigation.

eSports is not healthy at this time, players and teams are cheating to win money pots.

People cheat at this level it will be way worse in the casual arena.

Then even worse, Simple had his own Flusha moment. Don't know who have seen it, he was auto-snipering on Dust when he went into a 'spinbot'-like mode, but was quickly corrected.

More than 7 Million unique player IDs was analysed to create these charts. The stats are only Matchmaking applicable.

I don't know how accurate these stats are, but I assume most matches are FACEIT submissions. They have their own algorithms in determining actions. Anyone here uses their service?

Anyhow, the rank clustering is almost in line with what was reported 5 or so years ago, so I would say that it is a reliable presentation.

That rank distribution might explain recent videos I've seen and also me ranking up. For some reason the gap between LE, LEM and Supreme is massive. It feels like the transition from Silver to Nova in a way.

Also saw this video a few days ago of someone questioning the actual skill level of LE's and LEM's. There seems to be no difference

I would have liked to see the rank distribution per player region, but that wouldn't be possible unless you analyse per server, which will involve a lot more work on a micro-level. The smaller the region the less optimal lobbies (and queues).

I also don’t believe we have enough players playing matchmaking, but we have loads who play casually.

Then there are other variables like alt accounts. The Steam API, hence Valve, can determine whether accounts are linked in one capacity or the other, but whether it is the same player with multiple accounts, well, that is another matter, but when Steam ban illicit trading accounts they do tend to ban the active associated accounts altogether.

From my own experiences on CS, we don't have a big Silver distribution.

One thing we do know, though Valve doesn't seem to be doing much about in-game scripting, they do indeed pursue and seem determined to ban boosted and boosting accounts.

Our local player numbers are interesting. I think Anomaly did a video a month ago where we peak at 3000 players in Southern Africa. The interesting thing is, my alt account comes up against Supremes often for some reason despite it being low ranked. If I queue something like Nuke or Vertigo (the maps most players hate) I am guaranteed to go up against Supremes and LEM's.

Not enough players, not enough ranks, simple.

I would bet yah that a Global-ranked SA player will be destroyed by a North/South American or European Global-ranked player.

Then you have third-party league ranks like with ESEA and FACEIT, who will all punch above the 'standard'.

I always tell Prod and Cav, when a player is better than Simple he/she is hacking.

Just the way I perceive things.

That is fair, Simple is the best. Anyone that is better is cheating until proven differently.

I see Steelseries want back in on the esports scene, so they made a Zowie to compete with the Logitech 'competition' mice. Since cough the 403/703 is also basically a Zowie by design.

Nonetheless, Steelseries's new Prime series gaming hardware looks nice,

and I have an idea that these three mice may put Steelseries back on the map,

Capture.PNG

but the price is sure aimed at the premium market.

Well either way the game is going to be completely broken for the next few days.

That isn't a new exploit. Back in the day it was like a DDoS exploit, you could target individual IPs connected to the server, and Valve regularly patched it in an ongoing pursuit. It isn't a common attack, though seeing that this made its way into AdvancedAim I am sure that there will be players with their alts abusing it to get a laugh or two until it is remedied again. The YouTube vid servers as a hack promotion to get people to subscribe to AdvancedAim. Valve also released a patch today, but I don’t know whether this particular exploit is, again, addressed in that patch or server update.

The only opinion I have today regarding exploits is that that publishers/developers must acknowledge the issue. In every game where there is a digital economy with day-to-day trading and purchasing activities, the exploitation issue has been avoided, ignored or redirected. All these games have terms and conditions, and geographical legal codes, and the publisher knows very well that what applies to the consumer applies to them. Exploiters generate them money, and Valve knows this best, but admitting to it is a legal rabbit hole that won’t bode anyone well.

Very true, but he did mention in the video (at 11:38) that he's releasing the code for the server lag exploit on UnknownCheats and that people will probably be able to reverse engineer the other exploits he showed, because they work in the same way.

I suspect the game has way less cheaters in it than we think. People have good games and bad games. For the most part most of us are inconsistent. I stopped calling people out for cheating. It could be a better player or even just someone that is very lucky and hitting shots. Good game sense often makes it look like someone is cheating. Its a competitive game. People will get nasty. People will be *****. People will think anyone else that is better is cheating. Its stupid but its the nature of the game.
