CSGO Sticky thread

OT:

Ready or Not looks actually good, and I am curious whether it could have some competitive elements? Looks better than Siege :whistling:

I do believe it is a bit too expensive, it being a beta and all.

It won't be long until the controller gang take over,

2022.01.17

[GENERAL]
– Fixed Hammer crash on startup when not logged into Steam.
– Fixed input delay after closing radial menu.

[STEAM INPUT]
– FlickStick mode is now enabled in Options > Controller, as opposed to the SteamInput Configurator. Bind your Right Stick (or preferred aiming stick) to “Joystick Camera” in the configurator.
– Fixed SteamInput ActionSet being set to “MenuControls” when re-focusing on window.
– Refinements to FlickStick behavior.

[UI]
– Tooltips to help clarify console controller settings.
– Various fixes to sliders.

[LINUX]
– Added experimental Vulkan support. Add -vulkan to your command line to enable Vulkan.

Sorry gents and ladies, I can't make controller recommendations.

For anyone still playing, I am available on Sunday nights, and either Tuesday or Thursday nights, but not always during the week. Have a bad wrist, but I can play.

I see that CSGO had the new case drops to make the FPS issue go away

The Vulkan wrapper is now being tested by the community in the CSGO Linux build. Valve is giving Linux super attention now to prepare the Steam Deck.

88.9% games have a 1.00+ HLTV rating... and it being a #1 community position. Any player who does better than this on Valve servers are questionable.

Big move by the middle-east,

Saudi-Backed Company Buys ESL For $1 Billion

They also went and bought esports platform FACEIT for $500 million

It’s being reported by multiple outlets that ESL, one of the world’s oldest and biggest esports companies, has been bought for $1 billion by Savvy Gaming, an esports investment company that is backed by the Saudi Arabian Government’s wealthy and controversial Public Investment Fund.

The deal, first reported by German site Handelsblatt (and translated by Sports Business Journal), has seen both ESL and esports platform FACEIT purchased for a total of $1.5 billion by Savvy, a group whose CEO is Brian Ward, formerly a Senior Vice President at Activision Blizzard.

but I am curious whether this will also bring big changes to CSGO. Look, everything this particular Public Investment Fund has thrown money at have become a Saudi Arabia PR vehicle and I see it is also mentioned in the article.

This is really big. MS should have thought to have acquired ESL... but with the PIF already having a stake in Activision Blizzard, who knows, perhaps there are more intricacies to this deal.

I see there is already controversy,

career suicide.

So a 500k female league is now sponsored by the Saudi Arabian government?

I don't see a women's team on stage in Saudi Arabia any time soon. Time will tell how this PR vehicle will work elsewhere, and how the women will be treated by it. Savvy Gaming does have a woman publicly listed on their board, a CEO serving the company's ecosystems division, so I assume that there would be positive sway, but it will all be political with the Fund.
