CSGO Sticky thread

Played my first comps. It doesn't take your crosshair across - so now I need to go and look at my old one and recreate it. Also doesn't let you play left-handed yet. Looking forward to that.
So I ave 9 more to win for rank
Surely they couldn't have forgotten left-handed people? Perhaps there's a console command or some other fix.

I must say, I am impressed with CS2. My only issue with the game is the bobbing they have introduced, eeuw, but I guess they wanted to add some perceived realism to the movement and shooting mechanic. Other than the graphical improvements, the new sound stage is amazing.

The 12 rounds with overtime are a good decision, but I think that 15 rounds may still be around. Say goodbye to short matches. 12 Rounds was how it was back in the day.

My audio still breaks, like with CSGO, where some sounds would be missing or even all mono. No, it is not my headphones or cable.

Generally, the game plays better, and I like it.

Lastly, CS2 doesn't like low resolution, well, your eyes won't like it, but it plays very well on high resolution. I still play the game with a 4:3 stretched aspect ratio.

@Cav5034 @Neoprod when are you two catching up?

I still need to get rank for the invite...

Played with some mates over the weekend. It was good fun. Enjoying the new smoke mechanics. Sounds I agree are amazing. Most of the weapons sound a lot meatier now.

It's this weird mix, familiar but slightly different.

My understanding is that this prestige match format is just for the test period and that we will see long matches coming back again.

Dunno...haven't been playing but I'm psyched for the new game. Kind of reminds me how much time I've sunk into this series since 1.3.

Did find the sound on Nuke was still a mess. I still can't tell which site the bomb is planted on by sound... which is weird considering how well the directional sounds seem to work elsewhere.

How do you get access?

I got my rank back... Do we need to do placements on CS2? Or does the rank carry over?

The only thing your rank serves in CSGO is to get access to the limited CS2 test, that and having Prime. In CS2 you don't have any rank, you start at the bottom and have to win ten rounds to get a score (or rank). I don't know how it really works, but some call it a calibration mode which has been open to scrutiny. Some people have pointed out a problem with this calibration process. They say that weak players could have ten good games and then get a high rank (or score). This could create the situation we all know as ELO hell, which already exists with alt and boosted players.

I have seen on social media some old high ranking players complain about their low scores. Valve haven't said anything, but it seems to be calculated by win percentage rather than ELO (or whatever it is called nowadays).

I don't care. I will play my ten games and move on. I am already 3/10 down, no losses. I was hoping that you and @Neoprod would catch up.

Then, as @TribbleZA have it, once the standard competitive mode returns to active duty, then players will achieve rank, or score, per map. As it is, some players only play one or two maps at which they will excel, but won't touch any other map because they are bad at it. This is how Valve plans on balancing this issue.

The new Premier mode is made to rival other services like FACEIT, but I doubt that it will have any impact on their player base.

Rebalanced lag compensation to favor lower-latency players
