CSGO Sticky thread

An observation I made in CS2. Every time I get loss, any button press at that time is not registered. It will resume. Say I hold a nade ready to throw, and I get loss, it will throw. I am curious whether this has something to do with how some actions are tied to sub-tick. I have experienced this in the movement too.

As a CS newbie, I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong?

I’ve been angrily sworn at this week because I’m supposedly obviously cheating… lol, I don’t even know how.

Other times I was told that I’m camping. I don’t exactly know what that means? I know there’s guys who stick in one spot and get cheap kills, which some of my tactics could perceived as (I guess?) but if a player gets repetitive, they become predictable and then you counter them easily? Also, it’s boring?

Today, somebody called another player a “camper” too. Please explain, because all I think I am doing is playing in a way that I think makes sense in deathmatch - behaving in a way that fosters self-preservation while lining up shots.

The other “campers” I play with regularly and I never think they’re doing anything unfair.

There’s a guy who uses a shotgun every single match. He hides behind corners and shoots you in the back or kills you instantly as you enter a room. I know he does this, so I use a ranged weapon and try to remember where I last saw him, and get him when he moves. I always beat him. If he is camping, how does it harm me, and what good does it do for him?

Nobody ever says he is camping. I keep switching locations, tactics, weapons. Is it because I keep winning matches and he doesn’t that I am called out?

Just feeling sorry for myself now. I liked this game.

Why would I walk out into the open where I can be shot at from multiple directions? The maps are expertly designed to provide cover as you move. Boxes, crates, diagonals, ramps, crouch spaces, etc.

I hear a player headed my direction, am I supposed to run in front of them and announce myself before I shoot? Oh hello sir, I am going to shoot at you on the count of three. If I stop moving or I crouch because my footsteps will give away my location. Is that camping? If you were paying attention , then you heard me too?

It depends on the game mode. Players who sit in spawn all match is boring. Terrorists have to plant the bomb. Deathmatch is a race.

In competitive mode, well, you play to win.

You forgot.......do not stop......in fake heavy Russian accent of course. :)

Camping ? What year is it, as a CT it it is your job to "camp" and defend bomb sites. As a T if the CT's play aggressive, it's worth while to hold back a little, there is nothing wrong with camping in CS, this isn't call of duty. It can be a legitimate strategy especially when out numbered, rushing T's on some maps, is almost always going to end badly for the CT's same for T's. That is not even considering an eco round, anyone that moans about camping, politely tell them to fk off.

There is always one guy that will bitch and moan about camping and saving especially in casual when you are alone as a CT facing several T's, where there is no hope of winning the round, it is a strategy that I use now and then, and will often pick a spot or corner near the bomb site and try and pick T's off as they leave the bomb site......

If it is casual, fk em, a mute button works great, especially considering the amount of new and old players that have returned and the recent amount of squeakers and a fair bit more toxicity. Play however you want, you do you, if they play a specific way and you counter it the next round, you aren't the problem they are for doing the same thing again, expecting the same result.

A lot of people complain. The only really dick thing to do is spawn camp - but it is still done and nothing you can do about it. As the Wiz says - it is an actual strategy that often works - that is why it is so annoying. In comps you are expected to do that. Deathmatch is more for warming up - and if that is how you choose to warm up / practice - then mute them. I use it to practice weapons I am not particularly good at and don't care where I end up on the scoreboard. P250 vs AK or AWP or M4 - well you can imagine. But if you do kill them ... :giggle: they get really annoyed.

I see there is a possibility of a major cheating scandal brewing in tier 2 and lower competitive Counter-Strike. The issue mainly revolves around match fixing, but there are a number of clips showing players cheating. This is one clip which has gained traction:

It is the discussion surrounding this which I find bizarre. Some people online seem to know a lot more about how these cheats work than they are supposed to... Anyhow, a load of reports are being made to ESIC.

This is the latest incident:

There is a debate about whether this player cheated in professional CS or not. I do that too, time to time. I guess it is up to viewer discretion.

There was a recent interview with two cheat developers. You would need subtitles enabled if you are unable to understand them. Video below:

One developer believes that 10% of players are cheating using software. But if he also counts map exploitation and farming, the number increases to 40% of players. This I can believe. I don't even want to know what percentage is just bots doing trading.

The estimations make sense. Valve does nothing of note to combat cheating at all. One day CS will end up being a cheater vs cheater only game with no comparative integrity at the current rate

The problem is they can ban 100's of players every hour every day, if you ban players often, they often work out in short order what aspect of what they did got them banned, which in return makes it much easier for cheat software developers to patch it. Which is why you have random spaced ban waves, that way it is much harder to figure out why you got ban and what aspect of the software got detected ect. Lots of developers, take this approach especially blizzard as an example, bans were always done in waves.

Don't think valve is intentionally not banning, you just can't do it often, or else you sit with a problem like mentioned above, and valve won't confirm nor deny their banning practices for obvious reasons, it isn't too say there aren't daily isolated bans taking place with enough reports ect, it just isn't feasible to do large scale bans too often..........

Valve better needs to do a thing about the cheating issue... The last three casual lobbies I was in were a typical hvh situation. All I could do was lol.

Yep, same here. At this point I cant see how there is any anti-cheat active running. Even on CS stats, no cheaters busted.

Seems like there is even more reason to play on FaceIt servers on CS2. Who would have expected the cheating problem to get worse with CS2?
