I am not into skins. For anyone who has 'invested' in CS skins... Ouch.
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
A good example is the Dragon Lore. You can realistically get it by trading up to it, but it didn't drop prices. The funniest thing about Valve's change to skin trade-ups is how crypto traders are chipping in on social media. People who have no idea of the game shouldn't weigh in with their opinions on it. Valve didn't rug anyone. They are fixing a problem.
It wasn't too long ago that a popular CS player... sorry, case opener, said that skins are only worth what they are because the community wants them to be worth that much. The context that needs to be understood here is that those specific skins are inaccessible to the vast majority of the player base. It is Valve's fault for allowing this. The problem isn't Valve's marketplace itself; it is them allowing casinos and other skin trading services to piggyback off its API. This has caused them a **** of legal problems.
Many of those complaining are part of this external ecosystem.
From where I am sitting, it isn't that big an issue. Covert skins will rise in price, and knives/gloves will become less valuable. Valve still has its drop percentages.
Who the hell put all of their eggs into CS skins?

Even though I said not to panic… things got serious. Skins have real monetary value not something Valve can just play with. This is a $6 billion market controlled by a private entity that plays with people’s money. It’s time for
@EU_Commission to step in and talk regulations
For someone who has contributed, as well as critiqued, CS's game mechanics and input exposure. The person should know that it is the EU Commission that is compelling Valve to make these decisions.
The market cap was down to 5bn an hour after the second update was live...pretty funny. The first update let people trade up to a knife that was untrade-able so it was like cool but not much impact on the market. Then the patch to the update went live and made the knives trade-able...reds were climbing, knives and gloves were falling, people losing their minds.
The unregulated wild west nature of the digital tokens market needs to change - it's got a dark side that needs to be exposed.
The clever ones are already doing float calculations for maximum returns on trade-ups.People discovering their old CS inventory today like a lost Bitcoin wallet.
I don’t hate the update because I lost money.
I hate the update because I don’t want poor people getting skins.
We are not the same.
I'm literally in shock, I cashed out my entire inventory about a month ago, including my Butterfly Knife Fade and now I see this update happened. The price of it is less than half of what it used to be. I've never been a religious person but I'm almost questioning if this was some sort of divine intervention.
Also the price I sold it for was almost 1700% more than what I traded it for back in 2018, completely crazy.Yeah, the diamond hands are cracked.
lol got rid of my cases last month. Some of the first cases. Thank fck !!
Either way, it was nearly 1.2k in cases. It paid for a couple of new games. So yeah. Either way, I am happy to see this happen, if it can finally put an end to the skins gambling, or at least devalue it, it will be great. Hopefully gambling websites lots out on millions and I hope it doesn't recover.Hmmm, I don't think that this may impact cases very much. I guess it depends more on what Valve is planning with The Armory and Genesis Terminal systems. They need to bury this beast that they have unleashed, and what is happening now involves the measures they are taking.
It isn't only inventory being dumped. Accounts are being dumped too.
TL;DR - Today’s update is grouped into three categories of requirements:
- TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot: from the 25th of November 2025 both TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot will be required for all players. Those requirements are already enabled for more than 95% of players today.
- IOMMU and VBS: This rollout began in April 2025 and currently, we have more than 60% of FACEIT players with both settings enabled. This setting has been mandatory for all FACEIT players above 3,000 Elo since August 2025. In the next phase in November, this rollout will continue in increasing waves, allowing us to guide affected players through the setup process and monitor players’ system compatibility.
- Ending Windows 10 support: From the 14th of October 2026, Windows 11 will be required to play on FACEIT. If you’re on Windows 10, upgrade before then to continue playing. This date aligns with Microsoft’s schedule as Windows 10 will stop receiving security updates from 13th of October, 2026, leaving known security issues open longer, which cheat developers can abuse.
