CSGO Sticky thread

Seeing many people who appear to be permanently muted.

Had some guy hopping and getting headshots all day with a scout the other day, as well as last night. This is on casual though but he got promptly kicked.

What annoys me more is if you join an empty server and there's a bunch of Ukranian or Russian bots hanging around, instantly kicking you. Why VALVE doesn't sort out that simple problem is beyond me.
Ja, I only play casual for fun but sometimes you cant get anywhere because of these bots....
Seems to be in the hostage games more than the other groups?

Yes, because the hostage maps usually have less players. If they start joining and there are enough people they get kicked enough and then back off. Otherwise, no luck.

I also play the hostage maps a lot but generally if it's past 9 on a Sunday or 10 most other days you can forget about playing hostage.

I will tell you this much: there are local bot farms in South Africa. Not everything is coming from overseas. Also, if you play a casual game and there is a bot-like player or more in the game, the chances of its owner being in the match are high.

This can also happen in competitive matches. South Africa's servers are being hit hard by the bots.

There is no point in complaining anymore. Valve clearly isn't going to take a hard stance on this. They seem more invested in making their AI anti-cheat detection work, even though it has been years now without anything that has significantly improved the community.

Just now there was a ban wave, and a massive number of bans has already been rolled back. It is the same old pattern with Valve. No permabans, just temporary bans.

I don't know what Valve is doing, but ordinary players have no say in the game; they only listen to influencers, as most other developers and publishers do nowadays. Games aren't made for the people anymore; they are made for the select few, and everyone else has to get in line.

All that said, South Africa has a relatively large cheating community. I know.

When I say cheating, I am speaking of cheating in online and multiplayer games.

Im normally wasting my life between 6-9pm...

In this case, re the hostage maps, they do reside elsewhere as they have high ping. 200-300ms and the whole server is full of identical pinged bots on both teams.

There are definitely bots coming from overseas, but you’re not going to run a mass of bots from your own IP and country either. The bots are there to grind weekly drops, and inventory is used to fix the market. Once a bot is done for its use, it is sold off. Valve doesn't take that lightly and is actively dealing with regulatory issues concerning their community market and third-party sites making use of their APIs.

Tons and tons of Russian/CIS bots are created, the easiest to flip as well.

Happened at 6 tonight and right now... at 8.

This is surely something Valve can sort out.

Bots are kicking you?
You haven't experienced this yet?

Must have happened to me at least 20 times by now.

The best is the deathmatch lobbies where all the bots run backwards into a central bot spinning spamming the knife until the round's over.

Case farmers I assume.

No, I only play once a week to get my case, frick that game.

I currently have the longest CS downtime in my own player history.

For me, the game is broken; Valve only pays attention to pros, streamers, YouTubers, and high-level ga... traders.

I am taking a break.

It is said that VACnet improved, but I see other chatter on some Discord channels. There are some communities here that host local matches. There is a guy here who built his own custom app to bring players back to the yard. I have no idea how his hosting works, but some good local players are using it.

I am way too garbage at this game to consistently get cheaters.

VACNet has definitely improved though. I had 2 games stopped early by VACLive weekend before last. One last weekend.

The game is now unironically dead. Some of the many things I miss about CS:GO are the community movement game modes like bhop, surf, KZ, etc. CS2 has them but they are definitely not the same and the movement feels terrible, so you're basically forced to go back to CS: Source if you want a proper experience.

However, there aren't any SA servers for Source and playing certain modes like bhop feels terrible on high ping. Thankfully we can now play Momentum Mod on Steam and it feels pretty much 1:1 like Source does, but without the lag, and I honestly think it's more fun than I've ever had with CS2.
