CUASA welcomes VANS ruling

After reading quite a bit on the judgment I'm still a little foggy about the real implications and have a couple of questions.
Will this judgment have most impact on the last mile segment of our networks? This portion is the easiest and most cost effective to provide initially? (Be nice if Telkom let people into their exchanges to install equipment now).
VANS will in the most part will still have to buy long haul bandwidth from Telkom et al? (at least for the time being)
Who are the current VANS> Is there a list of them? I checked www.vans.za.net to see a site under construction.
...off to google how to become a VAN :)

I do remember seeing a list of VANs somewhere in relation to the license conversion process, it was quite a long list.

And unfortunately, from what I gather, since the ECA was promulgated you aren't able to get a VANs license anymore...

And yeah, if a VANs can't afford to lay its on cables then it will have to purchase longhaul bandwidth from the incumbents, although conceivably VANs could pool resources to build a shared network I reckon...

so only a select certain few have?
