Cudy Mesh Router

Hi all, got a 2 pack of the 1800 model and very happy so far. The 2.5gh channel gives me half bandwidth and the 5gh gives me full fiber speed throughout the house with the two mesh units.
One think I haven't figured out is if I can set a bandwidthlimit on my guest network - anyone know?

Correction..... I'm getting max speeds on both frequencies

Any opinions on this offer from takealot

Check this out on takealot: Cudy M1200 AC1200 Dual-Band Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi Router – 3 Pack

Nothing wrong with the Cudy mesh system i had the 3 pack M1300 for a year before upgrading to wifi 6. Would have kept it if i did not upgrade some of my devices to the faster protocols and using the wifi to copy a lot between devices. Personally I think for a normal home AC1200 is enough.

I have been using both the Cudy M1800 and the Cudy M3000 mesh routers for over a year now. So here is my 2 cents. Cudy offers an App to manage the very basic functions of the router. Like linking devices through a QR or to check who is on your Network or you would simply like to see how much bandwidth is being pulled on your line. Please note the app does not give you the full functionality like the web router page does.
What I like:
Backhaul: Wireless mesh mode via the 5G connection or wired backhaul. The backhaul will switch from wireless to wired automatically if you plug an Ethernet cable in.
Connection: Using a 500Mbps line from Openserve. I have experienced above 500Mbps down and 248 Up on ethernet cable and 320Mbps on WiFi over 5G on a WiFi 5 enabled phone. However the link speed is dependent on the phone and the quality of the antennas on your phone, tablet or laptop you use. I says this because I have seen WiFi speeds on the M1800 up 457Mbps.
Other things to note is both routers offer VPN, DHCP snooping, cloud management to name a few .

The bad: The M1800 has a sub par processor and only 16Mb Memory Ram. The router often glitches with the latest firmware 2.1.3. Having to reset the router every month is something I have noticed and could be the firmware. I have to add that you can not over load the M1800 with over 20 devices either. Both the M1800 and the M3000 routers are limited to only 2 ethernet ports.

So if you are looking for a budget router that you are not going to be fiddling with for your home. I would say spend the R100 - R200 extra and just get the M3000. You get a stronger processor and more memory making the router way more stable than the M1800.
I would say the Cudy M3000 is the dynamite for your buck!

Currently have about 40 devices connected and I can see the router is struggling

Thats what I have also noticed. I think the cpu gets overloaded and can't handle all the devices connected to it. Plus with the low memory makes it worse

I am thinking of upgrading, anyone has suggestions ?
I have been looking into the Ubiquity Unifi Ultra Gateway and then to add some Unifi U6+ AP's but I have seen a very similar system from Reyee with very appealing prices so I'm indecisive at the moment whether I should get Ubiquity or the Reyee.

Reyee and cudy brands are similar

For WiFi 6/6e I can highly recommend the TP-Link XE75 which has 512MB RAM. Worth the cost and Takealot's third party vendor price is excellent.

Also posted on another tread but this one is more relevant I think.
My new homelab server support 2.5G networking now, and I am thinking it's a good opportunity to upgrade my network and maybe the wifi also as it hasn't been very stable.
My place isn't very big but I do like the :

Cudy AX3000 2.5G Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System

Just a pity about the 1 only 2.5G port, I will also have to get a 2.5G switch.

So I've just done a comprehensive "rearchitecture" of my home network, and considered the whole 2.5G thing, but I just couldn't find a valid usecase for my home network that would justify the investment currently.

I did the upgrade to Wifi 6 mesh from an old 802.11g/n network and even then the vast majority of stuff isn't taxing the 1G network it has access to.

I put a CODY 3 station unit in a flat. It worked, but now and then (irregularly) stops.

Eventually changed for a TP-Link system which is 100%

Bit of a waste of money as the supplier said there was no fault. Gave it to another IT guy and he also found it intermittent

Looking for something to monitor internet usage, using the Cudy emulator I see these devices can give you live feed on bandwidth usage and clients etc?
Is it any good or should I be looking at something else?

Edit: looking at Reyee it seems to have better outlay on live usage etc. even app seems better?

TP-link gives some info on the app; Reyee would most likely be better though
