Current setup upgrade

The case is an el-cheapo

forget the ram... i rate its enough and faster Ram isnt going to make that much difference.
why not get a nice case, something that makes installing your other hardware easier, unlike the rest of your PC you can pretty much stick to your case forever and nobody can see the hardware inside your case so they're just going to judge you on the case you have.

Yep.. your pc is more than adequate for your needs.

My pc is around 2 years old too... Needed some TLC so

2333sw + Logitech G11 + Stinger mouse + Windows 7

End result... Feels good as new :p

Good point ponder, yes I think so. My upgrades have always been motivated by greed to be honest. However in this case I just want to be in keeping with the pace, well I try to. Having Neotel has always brought up the space issue, one can't have enough HDD's.

Do you game a lot ponder and have you oc your system?

Maybe look into a bigger LCD as it makes a big difference to you computing experience, I got myself a Sammy P2350 not to long ago :o
A new GPU like the 5890 could also be an option but I would rather wait for prices to drop.

The only game I play a lot is CS:S which do not have heavy requirements. I have also played Far Cry 2 & Crysis 2 on my rig and I had no complaints about the performance, Crysis I obviously did not play on high settings.

Yes, I have lapped my cpu & heatsink for cooler operation. OC'ed my CPU to 3.1GHz just to see if I could but I still run at stock 2.4GHz speeds. If the need arises I will give myself a x-mas present and bump the speed up :D

Thank you, ram idea is now scrapped. The Seagate 1TB is going for R 825 @ NGR, that's it for my Xmas shopping for the year and for a while :)

Maybe look at the 1.5TB samsung, they go for a steal these days.

Hey ponder :), that's an awesome oc there mate...wow. I'm sure you have a Thermaltake cpu cooler for that clock? Yep the Q6600 is legend. I'm sorted as far as monitors as I have a dual LG setup. No first shooters for me, NFS yes but it's been a while as Neotel keeps me busy, that is dloading and watching movies and series.

I have all Seagate drives, including my externals, and would prefer a Seagate but I heard that the 1.5TB's are a bit problematic. Yeah a 1.5TB should fit my Xmas stocking perfectly.

No HDD flaming please chaps :)

True but I don't lan and don't really have to show off my case. I also agree with you on the installation and stuff as my current one has taken me time to neaten, cable tie cables, etc, etc. A case with a lekker cable management system is always a good idea. I think I'll shelve the case for while to sacrifice for more gigs - as in space.

Thank you anyway for the advice reedOsama, I like your sig. on santa worship

I remember reading an article on Tomshardware.com the other day. They compared benchmarks for 3 gig, 6 gig and 12 gig amounts of RAM.

The results showed that their is no increase in performance what so ever. You would only need that amount of RAM if you doing some virtualization or running different games at once and alt tabbing between them.

*edit*

Alternatively, you could get more RAM and disable virtual memory (swap file) on your PC. That does cause a decrease in performance.

You right kuga, I have scrapped the ram upgrade.

Wow, that is quite surprising.

I suppose more space would be more useful... but does your Pc have enough drive bays? If not then one of these could prove useful!
