Currie Crap

Without the star players - and now that a local team (eventually) managed to win the S14 - the Currie Cup has turned into the Currie Crap. The S14 successes this season redefined the local rugby landscape - with the CC turning into the Vodacom Cup on [cheap] steroids. Knowing now that a S14 title is actually within reach the top teams will see the Currie Crap as preparation for the S14 - and not something worth winning anymore.

Well I tend to disagree, yes ofcourse the Sharks, Bulls and WP supporters must be dissapointed by this weekends results. A real upset I must say. Even the Aussies won.

But in times like these upcoming players that was never selected will show what they are made of.

For instance the Sharks have good examples. Barrit and Steyn showed great talent when the regulars were away the last few years. With the Springboks gone we will see lots of talent appearing.

Although, it is no excuse for the WP and Bulls losing. The teams they played is much weaker, and it's not as if the whole Super 14 team is gone.
Same with the Sharks, although the Lions is much more competitive than Boland, they also have room for lots of improvement.

The Lions were very poor - considering the opposition and where the game was played. Will the Lions ever get it right? After Loffie took over they started a new era with a huge bang ... but the bang has now turned into a peep (again).

If the CC has become the place for up-and-coming players to develop and show their stuff it's not much better than the VC imo. It is early in the competition - and the top teams may only get into gear when it matters later - and it is the WC year - and so on - but I find myself far less interested in the CC this year (or so far at least).

Well from what I sew the CC so far is not much better than VC or even schools rugby. Pathetic and poor. 12 Minutes the sharks battled continually on the lions goal line and could not get through, then they lost the ball. Now was the lions good or the Sharks just cr@p. A b 50/50 call IMHO. I lost total interest till the big boys return.

Early days yet and the results are great for the competition.

The standard of the CC is always a disgrace considering the boks are left out. Not much to get excited about, unless you support your team, who is playing a big game.
