Curro or Advtech for investment?

Which is growing faster and the better option for investment? Curro share prices are cheaper, but maybe more room for growth there because more folks can afford to send their kids there so it may grow faster in the foreseeable future?
 
Buy both. It seems you like Curro more, so try a 70 / 30 split.

Otherwise just buy a top 40 ETF and don't worry about share prices again.

Good question.

On the one hand more people are sending their kids to private schools during Covid-19 as they are not disrupted like the public schools.

But, then private schools are also losing many learners to the huge amount of families leaving the country.
 
Curro has massive debt. Whether they will recover after Covid 19, job losses, and more is another question.

Between the two, I think ADVTech is in a much better position and probably the better investment in the long term.

The bigger question though, what is the future for extremely expensive private schools in South Africa?

Very good. If there's one thing people in any African country like, its good schooling for their kids. And there's man who can afford extremely private schools.

I know there are many people who can no longer afford these high fees, especially due to Covid, loss of income and more importantly, loss of employment. Private schools all reported decrease in learner numbers last year.
 
ADvTECH is way less geared and from what I recall they are investing quite heavily into the rest of Africa.

They also have tertiary education investments which I don't think Curro has.

Curro most definitely has exposure to tertiary institutions

Are you saying that Curro is an expensive private school ? I had them pegged as a middle ground between very expensive private and good government schools.
Not that I know much about the schools. Friend of mine said that he saved 15 k per month by moving his 3 kids from Reddam to Curro.

It's not expensive at all if you're comparing curro to traditional private schools. My niece's school fees are about 60k
 
Education and Pharmaceutical will definitely do well in the short to medium term good buy in my opinion. I would also favour Curro if I had to choose

Isn't Curro going to start a private Uni?

Also jirre I knew a principle at a private primary school and a lot of kids left and it only takes a few kids to leave for the school to feel the impact.

Yeah, I was down there the other day as I've got a house that borders that new development. Haven't been down there in ages but the new high school is impressive, but there's nothing else there, it looks like it's all for more housing estates.
