I have been experimenting with modying and customizing my huawei b315s router to add more features like band selection from the web ui instead of using other tools and here is what i got boys. What do you think?I am now modifying backgrounds and icons and stuff.

For my own interest sake. Do you actually truly modify firmware, or only the browser/page settings?

Not that I have any of these routers.

you can actually modify it and edit the firmware to your liking. Then reflash it. It is more than just the browser bro. Like now i have added vpn to the browser and added my settings so i no longer have to open the stand alone vpn application, i just let it run from the router directly.

Have you seen anything to enable ssh/telnet?

What I would do is script the updates so you can stay on the latest firmware and just re-script your updates provided there aren't significant changes to the UI in the updated firmware. You definitely want to be on the latest for the most part.
Will do buddy. thank you.

What I want to do is enable manual DNS settings on my B612...
Would be interested to hear more about your approach and whether it applies to the B612 as well.
Manual dns settings should be easy to put. I have those options natively on the b615 though. If it is just dns settings.

How did you manage to get access to perform the mods? It may be the same for the 612
I extracted the firmwares bro.... and changed the config files. These are some of the step by step guides i followed.
I will send you some step by step basic guides to modifying firmwares...

then you also need to work with the config files

it is actually quite exciting though.

Ok.
Operation create vulnerable router seems in full swing.
Well it is up to you to decide what to do or not? not really asking you to do that to yours bro. Just came here for input from people who do modify their routers.

Except where Huawei routers are concerned. Yoh... these things are a total ballache. No option to configure even basic stuff like DNS o_O
TBH most of these 'managed' type routers have the same issues.
I'm still not a fan of changing to custom firmware on devices I know are mission critical. There are many security issues to take in account. Especially for the less experienced. A 'tool' to flash or a script added or changed can cause any amount of infinite problems.

It's fun to play with, sure. But I won't trust any of my devices on that network.
