Except for the US soldier, they are mentioned because they were all neo-colonial British possessions (or owed allegiance to Britain). It can be argued that the US was also neo-colonial, but that was way back when. They all were on the same page anyway. Russia had its own agenda.
From her POV these people fought for HER freedom. Depending on who you were, different people fought for you. At some stage in history different people - yours and foreign - may have fought for you.
