Got this email from Cybersmart today, and I am a bit perplexed by it since my invoice doesnt show any difference, and my line still syncs at 4096kb/s :

Hi

Your 4096 Kb adsl service on telphone number 011xxxxxxx has been changed to 10240 Kb. If you look at what you will be billed for next month
( you can see this by going to http://www.cybersmart.co.za/billing.cgi and putting in [email protected] ),
you will see that you will be billed a prorata amount from todays date till the
end of the month for the adsl line at 10240 Kb. You will also see a credit from todays date till the end of the
month for the adsl line at 4096 Kb.

Regards
Cybersmart

Anyone got the same email, or willing to shed any further light on this ?
Thanks

Cybersmart bill there capped account based on line speed and state if you purchase a lower speed account and use it on a higher speed line this will automatically migrate you. If the line speed has not changed then Telkom have prepared their systems for 10Mbps lines and their usage logs are reflecting that change. If that is correct that means the log is not recording the actual line speed but the product. What happens if you have a 4Mbps account and Telkom cannot increase the line speed does that mean Cybersmart will want to bill you based on a 10Mbps line? Either that or Telkom temporarily upgraded the line and Cybersmart picked up a log with the increased line speed.

I think it might be a automatic message from cybersmart. You pay according to your line speed. So the systems automatically check to see that you are actually using the correct line/speed with the matching account. Just call cybersmart and suspend this message. Cybersmart should know that Telkom is planing a upgrade.
