Hi all,

I am changing from a Vodacom 3G HSDPA with Linksys 3G router solution to ADSL through Cybersmart.

According to Cybersmart, I will receive an ADSL router with no wireless capabilities as part of the activation.

My question is this.....

Can I have a setup that allows for the Cybersmart router to manage the ADSL connection, while the Linksys still manages the wireless network.

In other words, can I have my 3 PC's linking up to the Linksys via wireless, the Linksys linked up to the Cybersmart ADSL router via Ethernet and still have all 3 PC's able to connect to the Internet?

I know sweet nothing about networking, ADSL etc, but I have read that this would require "bridging" the two routers. Is this true? If so, what is "bridging" and how do you do it?

Secondly, if what want to do does require bridging and Cybersmart's router does not allow this, what are my options?

yes that will work - as long as your AP is setup with the same network settings as your router you shouldnt have a problem, gateway for wireless devices will still be your routers IP address.
Bridging is only needed if you would like to create the internet connection directly from your computer and take it away from the router, the router just acts as a bridge to the outside world if you will.

Setup

ive used wireless router connected to adsl router through lan cable both had different ip address range and worked fine. All u need to do is make wireless router static ip addresses and adsl router dynamaic automatic ip addresses so it doesnt interfere.

Thanks

Thanks guys.

As soon as all the gear arrives and the ADSL is activated, I'll give it a go.

BTW - What is th general consensus with regards Cybersmart? I chose them for the CAPSaver product.

I had no problems with Cybersmart when I was with them... I moved when I started needing much much more bandwidth than they provided.
