Cybersmart CCTV reviewed

What IP rating are the cameras? They obviously can't be used outside if the power connector is exposed, and speaking of that, why didn't they use PoE?

Picture quality looks very questionable. All the feeds look blurry.

:p

The fact that it needs to be plugged into the router seems to really limit the effectiveness of this

If you check out the cybersmart.co.za site you can check out a demo. I can't believe how expensive the cameras are.
The demo doesn't work for me... Probably too many people connecting to it.
They seem to just be reselling this though

its a waste in terms if you want 10+ camera's , my system setup better at the moment, 24 camera's at 2 warehouses(link via wifi). Encrypted data, 2 servers mini and 1 main server at home(uses 4mbps line to sync the view point only at night or when business is close) . Since April got the camera data on my 4 x 2TB HDD(Raid 1) home server. Quality is 720p 1 week then achieve 480p and still got 1.2TB available. Could be more space available if I just record movement(known as motion detection) data but I don't know what program does it.

But I love the live monitoring, I might consider a few specially for the house.

Picture quality on the demo (now at night at least) is absolutely shocking! You wouldn't be able to identify anything in that feed for evidence in court! It's worse than the lowest quality setting on youtube!

No thanks.

+1

I take my words back. Night support is important.

Indeed... Lost me when I saw QVGA in the product spec for the various options available.

Some specs would be nice and if it is VGA then it is a dog .
