I was reading the terms and condition on the cybersmart web site and I came across the following:

"7. If you subscribe to our ADSL service, you are required to cancel any other ADSL service you may have with any other ISP."

and that

"5. You are required to use the @cybersmart.co.za email address that comes free with your ADSL account "

isn't that a bit too much?

Okay ... thanks for the link geek ... cybersmart cater for a specific non-superuser crowd.

Their conditions are justifyable in that context, and I certainly would suggest that my mom use them, and help her to cheat the mail rule by setting gmail to forward emails to that account.

But .. that's too much brick wall for me.
 
Sure, no problem!

How on earth are they going to enforce that you use the email address they give you? Also, there is no way they prevent you from using additional ISP accounts..

I like how with Web Africa, as long as you give notice of cancellation for your account(s), before you receive the invoice, your account gets cancelled. No 1 month "written" notice needed. So easy.

I don't use that mailbox, i just told a tech from there to set it to autoforward for me to my gmail and BAM! it was done :D
I think that clause is there so that you can recieve email once capped and so they know where to send those potential overusage cap report warnings, bill info etc to.
 
I'm just curious...

Do they check your usage stats to see if you use other email providers? :P

And how will they know if you use other ISPs?

But it seems that everyone is tired of cybersmart, so i'll go my way now...
 
I actually went through the trouble of reading all their conditions because I was really bemused by it. In the end it made me feel like I am back in school with all their silly rules. For me, they suck big time. And they enforce their caps to the byte. (Some ISPs do allow you some extra gigs). I am with Openweb and are very pleased with them. And the best of all, they allow you to still browse the net after you have reached your cap!
