A few days ago Cybersmart popped up with an e-mail, we are looking into the issue with your line, you will have a reply by the end of the day. Days have past now, are they just making me wait so that I don't cancel before next month? I firmly believe this is the case.

To Cybersmart:
Stop lying, never make promises, as you clearly can't keep any. Stop giving pathetic service. Stop claiming to be cheap and reliable, or the fastest. Do you guys have some special routing, to make speedtest.net results look good? That was rhetorical, because I don't expect an honest answer.

Please do not say sorry, as you don't mean it. Don't tell me that you will help me, because you won't or can't. Don't tell me that you have the slightest idea how frustrating, disappointing or annoying it must be, because you don't.

I am posting this purely to stop people from being convinced by your lies. I will tell anyone in the future to stay clear from you, even if I am not with you anymore.

Sorry to whomever might find this out of line, but I really felt obligated to write this.

contact [email protected] he's the ceo and usually go the extra mile to help his customers.

I am sure this will help the OP, but I get irked by companies who force you to contact the CEO to get anything done. This means the following:

- The CEO hired a management team
- The management team hired staff
- The staff that were hired are useless thus reflecting on the uselessness of the management team to screen, performance manage and motivate staff.
- The company, i.e. what you pay them a month gets used to pay staff a salary for free, because they are not doing their job and their management team and CEO gives them money for nothing in any given month.

I try to avoid these companies all together. And that 'this isn't the norm - it sometimes slip through the crack' argument has been used to death and when companies says this, I stay clear even further. Unless I can get proof that a useless employee has been disciplined and that a company takes the lack of service their staff provide seriously, they can give me all the free stuff they want, they will never restore my confidence in their brand.

PS. this is my view in general on topics such as these and not aimed at Cybersmart specifically.

Agree completely. Stay away from cybersmart! here's to hoping they actually transfer my line back to telkom and not cancel it completely as happened to a friend of mine!

It seems like you're raging at Cybersmart because they didn't email you.

They aren't providing him with support, as it is what he is paying. He is not only paying for a internet service but the support to ensure it works as per their agreement with him. I'd also be raging...

Reading this, I'm just happy that I changed ISP's when I did. I left CS in October last year, while still paying them until the end of November for a service that just didn't work. They kept blaming everything else (Telkom, router, port) but their service. Sound familiar ? I switched to MWEB while still having an account with them, and overnight my Internet experience changed from terrible to brilliant. Haven't looked back since.

Contact Adrian at Cybersmart. He assisted me and got things moving. He seems to be the only one there that's willing to help.

[email protected]

P.S - Don't let them dupe you into believing they can't migrate your ADSL line either, when you decide to change ISP's. They tell their customers that the line will cancel with the account. That is complete garbage. Make sure you get it in writing that they will migrate your line.

I have cancelled, and have confirmation that my line will be moved back to Telkom. Wasn't much of a hassle to cancel, they actually phoned me and asked if I still wanted to cancel.

I am not only pissed that they didn't e-mail me. I was pissed that when they did, they would lie to me.

my line has been with cybersmart since 2007. had been moved back to telkom and again to cybersmart this past week. never had any problems with my line. had some billing issues in 2007 but that had been sorted.

i do actually prefer to deal with the owner/ceo of a company directly. that way i always get the best deal. and i kno i can sort any problem with one email or call.

the problem with cybersmart, like so many other companies, the owner/ceo and the company usually are in diffirent cities. they do as they please. when cats away mouse runs the show.

cybersmart offer me the best value for my money and my adsl lines at the best prices in the country.

and Laurie Fialkov goes out of his wat to keep his customers happy, pity his staff dont give a damn...

I've dealt with him in the past as well. Helpful guy, but really, would you expect every customer of their's having issues to contact the CEO of the company for resolutions ? Why would he need staff in that case ? Rather deal with an ISP that has a technical department that actually can assist when the need arises.

at 08.10 this morning cybersmart applied with telkom for a speed upgrade on my behalf. at 19.19 my line were running at the upgraded speed. thanks laurie and cybersmart for another task well done.

there's ppl on mybb thats waiting a month for an upgrade and still waiting.

great job! :)

Is cybersmart really that bad?

This thread was from 2013, honestly I know nothing about Cybersmart ADSL no one says they are bad, good or in between. So very interested what happens in this thread.

You only hear about Cybersmart Fibre and people either love it or hate it.

I love thread necros...

Anyways, since then, CrystalWeb has been doing stellar things in the ISP industry. Incidentally enough, they originally chose CyberSmart as their backbone provider, and changed not long after that.

As an ex CyberSmart customer, I am inclined to agree with that decision.

Only single facebook moms and people who are clueless about the internet use CS so not much feedback.

I think they are a rubbish ISP.

Are you a Crystalweb customer?

I can't say they are the best but have helped me a few times. Meh they ok

Yup. Was among some of their first sign ups, and have been happy ever since. After running the ISP gauntlet in this country, I can finally say I have found an ISP to stick with.

I tried cybersmart twice, a year between both attempts, all I can say is never again. Their DSL network is not good at all. Very inconsistent.

They don't have a dsl network, there is only one dsl network in sa and it belongs to telkom.
