Hi

Can someone shed some light on this for me please...

I recently signed up a 4Mbps account with Cybersmart (possibly a serious error on my part). My ADSL line is with Telkom... 4Mbps obviously.

One minute Im using a torrent getting 220 KB/sec - 280 KB/sec then I come back and see my connection is dead... I reset my router and continue, and come back later and same story... !!

Im not a NOOB, my router is setup 100%, port forwarding also sorted. This NEVER used to happen on my "other" ADSL account.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Only ever do direct downloads and FTP transactions on my 384k Cybersmart and not had issues with it.

Have you tried contacting their call centre to ask about the drop(s)?

to be honest I have more faith in this forum than in their call-centre...

I would to think that someone here would be able to help me??

What do you mean the connection is dead?

Does the PPPoE connection die? Does your router lose sync? How is it dead?

I can give you my WA local account to test for an hour or so if you want to see if it's an ISP issue.

Just a question, I think I read somewhere you're not allowed to use another ISP if you have Cybersmart? So check that first.

What router you got? The meccer router from cybersmart?

We talked to the cyberdum people about that, they said it's not a "rule", it's just a guideline to make it easier [for them].
