I am very upset with cybersmart. Over the past few days I've been getting very slow speeds.Browsing the internet is impossible and downloading varies
getting fast speeds on some downloads and slow speeds on others.
I've emailed the cybersmart guys and they still haven't responded :(

Anyone else noticed slower then normal speeds ?

Just go look in the ISP discussions forum. There are lots of us who are upset with the service we are currently getting.

Heard cybersmart are shopping around for buyers i.e. to be bought out.

I think they are gonna close down soon :p

Problem persist with several ISPs, I'm on the vodacom network and have had several DNS routing issues the last couple of days. Speeds are extremely slow, even MYBB is hell slow on a 4mbps line :P

I just got upgraded for my loyalty, so that's what, R130.00 for 7Gigs bandwidth. That's cheap. I don't think they're closing.

Oh, erm, it's entry level. LOL. I don't game etc. and I don't have a lot of money for super-duper speeds. I'm happy with my package and now, extra happy.

How loyal were you? How many years? I wonder if loyalty is defined by how far you stay away from 'abuse level'. Or maybe it's no winging on MyBB and no harrassing their help desk :)

Well, I think from beginning of 2007, or was it 2008?

I've never had any major problems with Cybersmart, nor with their call service. True story.

When all bandwidth prices dropped all round except with them, I stayed on more because I couldn't be bothered to switch etc. I stay with them also because, often, I have cashflow problems and they have no problem suspending my debit order until 15th of a month.

Once I had an issue where bandwidth had mysteriously disappeared; I called them up and it was rectified within minutes. I'm just a little guy, and they've never shoved me around, like say iBurst, who was my ISP before I switched.

I understand that provision can be varied (but it can be due to many factors) but it seems the only time I have trouble is when there are confirmed problems across the country. As to call service, I'm generally friendly and patient on the phone when I call, and I think this makes the call people more friendly and helpful in return.

Well, RIGHT NOW I am having horrible speed from News Demon, compared to what I usually get on my Cybersmart link.

I usually download at 1 MB/s - right now I am getting around 400 kB/s. I've even switched from the US to the Europe server - no joy!

The problem is that at 3am there is no one to call ...

Oh, and of course speedtest shows my test to Cape Town and London are both at 8.45 mbps - my "normal" speed.

I'm also getting horrible speed, BUT only on weekends. I'm on the weekender 3 package, which means weekends are free. Normally this was as fast as on week days, but from 3 weeks ago this started.

Normally downloads at 38kb/s and now only a max of 6kb/s??

whatsup?

Change your PC's DNS servers to: (Note, use all in same order - first being fastest)

196.2.53.140
196.41.126.4
196.207.40.167
196.7.0.138
196.207.40.165
196.41.0.10
196.41.0.11
41.157.9.4
209.212.96.1
8.8.4.4
8.8.8.8

You will note that Cybersmart's DNS servers are now pointing to VOX (Data Pro) - telling to what is to come...

Trace complete.

What are you smoking today?

196.41.0.1x always used to be datapro/vox DNS resolvers.
196.41.126.4 is a cybersmart DNS resolver.

Last I heard, Cybersmart is not selling their business. Clearly a rumor started here on mybb...
