Remco just abandoned :/
I've always said that Remco is a non entity in the mountains, and he's shown it enough times that he's not capable to compete with the top guys in that terrain, He thinks by doing the mountain climbs like it's a Sunday ride sticking to his numbers will be enough to compete in GC, sorry bud, that's not gonna cut it against Pogi or Vinegar. Even the guys behind him have improved now. Something will have to change for Remco in terms of GC and mountain climbs... he'll have to re-evaluate what he's capable of doing best, unfortunately.

Of course for everyone other than Vinegar and Pogi the bar is set so high, it's nearly impossible for anyone at this stage, or even the next few years to compete with them, or just Pogi himself. It will take another generational talent to unseat Pogi at this stage of his career.

Next generational talents will be Isaac Del Toro and Pablo Torres, but they wont be competing with Tadej anytime soon. ;-)

Where was the Ineos car here lmao

those morons are in the middle of the bloody road
Which is completely normal in the high mountain stages. Been part of cycling forever. Not saying it's not their own fault, but cars should still be paying attention.

Why was Lenny Martinez on the podium twice for the KOM prize? That was confusing.

Didn't watch the podium but perhaps Souvenir Jacque Goddet
Ah had to google what that is. But yes that's it. Even the commentators were confused, they didn't know what happened either.

Also I just like this pic of the oldest man in the race for some reason :)

This was funny lmao. An unsuspecting Wout fan screams as Alaphillipe rips a Wout sign out of her hands to stuff in his jersey. She didn't want to let go haha.

Alaphilippe you bastard! :laugh::laugh:
Update lol:

Alaphilippe met up with the woman (who was pissed because she waited the entire day to show Wout the sign but then she couldn't hehe), he gave her a bib and Wout was there as well so that she could take a photo with him.

So in the end, as Alaphilippe said, everything worked out better for her because if he didn't steal and destroy her precious sign then she would never have met Wout :p

Yes, Del Toro looks the business from what I've seen these past two years of him, and of course UAE made sure to employ him, rather than compete against him. ;)

I have my reservations regarding Ayuso tho, he wants to be a team leader, but he definitely doesn't want to be a team player... just my observations and rumblings I've heard of course. What I immediately found odd was when in the Giro the day UAE said they will support Del Toro, that same day Ayuso suddenly dropped back and lost 15 minutes, while up to that point he and Del Toro were side by side all race long, Ayuso not having any issues, and even before the Giro Ayuso was winning races. To me it was just too suspicious. Sure the day after he got stung by a bee and soon after abandoned the race, but it still was dodgy to me, from my perspective. Maybe I'm the only one sensing that from Ayuso.

Anyhow, what will be more interesting is to see who will all go to the Vuelta to compete... that should be a cracking race if Tadej goes, with Del Toro and Ayuso as well. :p

I understand from distance what happened with Juan looks as you described. What I can tell you is that his knee injury from the crash on the strade Bianche stage was much more significant than was generally known. Juan is super nice kid, very motivated and with a lot of pressure on him in Spain, remember in Spain every kid who does anything is pushed as the next Indurain or Contador. He is a better team player than he is portrayed, but definitely has his own ambition as he should. As too your comment re Isaac and UAE would rather have him than complete against him. I would argue UAE are very good at developing talent once identified. Look at the L'Avinir winner from the last 10years and which ones are in a position to win a grand tour. Obviously success breeds success.
Look what Tim is doing now. The tour team is known at the December training camp. ( No changes were made to the team from December) compare that to Ineos where guys were at the pretour training camp 10 days before the start of the tour and didn't know if they were riding.

Watch for Pablo Torres, you won't have seen much from him this year - he had a big crash in Hungary, but he is going to the the next superstar pure climber.

Ah and Vuelta is Tadej and João co leading. No Isaac or Juan. Max 1 grand tour per year for the u23 riders at UAE.
