Cyclist died

Well that's absolutely bullshit. The mask doesn't cut off oxygen, and he would have had enough time to remove it if he really had difficulty breathing, which I doubt.

Blaming the mask for stuff like this is irresponsibility and just plain stupid. If you're to fragile to wear a damn mask to protect OTHERS, then stay the feck home!
Well I wasn't going to say any thing, but hyperventilation can cause a heart attack especially with a underlining heart condition. While technically the flow of air could have been restricted somewhat, resulting in having to take far more regular breathe

Jesus.

Inception.

The NY Post quoting the Sun.

It's a Rupert Murdoch dream within a dream.

Anyway, please explain how a pneumothorax... you know, air getting *into* the chest and causing the lung to collapse is caused by...

/checks notes

Air intake being restricted by a mask??
If you have a hole in your chest wall, then it's plausible. As your chest expands, air is sucked into the hole instead of through the mask. If the hole is of a particular nature, the increased pressure when you exhale seals the hole so the air remains in the thoracic cavity.

Of course, this is probably something that you'd notice before it became that particular problem....

That's kinda my point.

A pneumothorax is most commonly trauma related... Nothing to do with a mask.

I know it's the world we live in now when folk die at the age of 103 and everyone's like, 'oh, the Rona got him', but it seems more likely to me that the runner in the article was, in fact, infected and the cyclist in the OP had an undiagnosed heart condition.

Well most people would be, about time, what took him/her so long. ?

Today I heard of a cyclist [about 60 years old] who went riding his bike with a mask. He was found dead next to the road, blue in the face, dead. You can see he climb off. The family thinks he died because off the mask on. Your comment please. They say it was not a heart attack.

Well then his family are pretty stupid.

LOL.

It's just a weird thing I've noticed happen lately.

Ian Holm died... He was 88 and folk were asking if it was Corona as opposed to, you know, the 88 bit.

We're in the upside down.

I know of much younger cyclists and people doing other sports that have suffered a similar fate before COVID and masks were ever a thing.

The common link? Cardiovascular exercise.

You have a certain number of heartbeats assigned to you at birth, when you do cardio your heart beats faster so you use up those heartbeats faster. That's my excuse for not doing regular exercise and I'm sticking to it.

The mask would definitely restrict oxygen.

The guy was a beast if he pushed through it to the point of killing himself, because not breathing and doing a strenuous exercise isn't a lot of fun.

It's stupid to jog with a respirator. Respirators restrict breathing quite a bit. Better to wear a cloth mask, since it allow for easier breathing.

Although, in China they wear masks for the air pollution too and cloth masks will be near useless for that.

If you are fit your heart beat slower during all other normal activities and is in better condition. So it's a net gain.

I'm sorry, but what is the point of asking the Internet about this? Nobody, not even you, saw this happen.
