I have not used cydia for a while but noticed that the icon was missing today, did a complete reset and nothing. jailbreak is still running bug cydia is missing?

Ipad 2 iOS 5.01

The only case I've hard of when this has happened was (with the iPhone but guess iPad could be the same) the slightly older Jailbreak that required you to "Just Boot" ie do a tethered JB. Not sure if it is the same thing.

You can only use this guide to install a version of IOS on your device which Apple is currently signing. DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO PICK AN OLDER VERSION WHICH YOU KNOW IS NO LONGER BEING SIGNED! It will not work using this method.

this is confusing me, my ipad 2 is on ios 5.01, is apple still signing this version, can I follow the tutorial?

No. You'll have to go to 5.1 as Apple only signs the latest firmware.

Unfortuantely, with the iPad 2 (liek the iPhone 4S) because it is an A5 CPU device, 5.0.1 SHSH blobs don't work to downgrade yet like other A4 devices afaik..

I downloaded a program called tinyUmbrella , apparently Cydia backs up your shsh blobs for you.

Went through the process to backup stored cydia blobs to pc.
When i was done it showed:

SAVED SHSHs FOR IpAD:

iPad2WIFI 4.3.3
iPad2WIFI 4.3.5
iPad2WIFI 5.0.1
iPad2WIFI 5.1
iPad2WIFI 5.1.1

Can I use the 5.0.1 shsh blob to restore my device even if apple are not signing off on it anymore?

Okay, I just did mine using the redsnOw exploit. Works beautifully!!

Cool.

Got the 5.1.1 ipsw, 5.0.1 ipsw is on other pc so will try tomorrow.

What would happen if I update to 5.1.1 via iTunes now, maybe just to give it a try?
