Dear All,

Just to keep you informed on the D-Link ADSL Telkom line issue.
We are currently working on the problem, the DSL-504G and DSL-300G has been submitted to Telkom to be tested on there DSLAMS, and I'm going into the Telkom Test Labs my self on Tuesday 9 Dec 2003 to do some tests myself on the Telkom DSLAMS with the D-Link ADSL units.

The DSL-300G according to my knowledge should have no problem what so ever to sync and connect, as well as the DSL-200I and DSL-604+G units.

The only problem we have is with the DSL-500G/504G routers that sync only one certain lines. They do sync on the 2Mb line, I have tested that myself personally. The whole sync thing has to do with the line quality as well as the Noise/Signal ratio.

Please visit this page dialy, I will inform you personally on the progress on this matter.

As you all know the DSL-300G/504G is both ICASA aproved.

When a units is not syncing the ADSL leds flashes the whole time, if your ADSL Leds does not come on, the there is a physical fault on the line or your account has accidently been deactivated. Please feel free to email me with any questions or problems.

Please also mail me so that I can mail you the Firmware Patch to solve this problems, when you run a DSL-500G/504G ADSL router.

I just want to stress, that the DSL-300G/604+G both work on the lines, I have tested them on good as well as poor lines. The only issue is with the 500 series.

Please mail me @: [email protected]

Even though I don't own a D-Link modem, I'm very impressed with the support you guys are clearly trying to provide.

Well, I phoned up Telkom yesterday afternoon coz a DG504G on a site of mine was doing exactly that.

The tech informed me that they are changing things on the ADSL DSLAMS and that there are currently some known issues with the D-Link modems.

He gave me DLinkSA's telephone number in Pretoria - I phoned slightly out of normal office hours and Herman promptly answered the phone.

I asked him to post here to keep us abreast.

Thanks Herman, I am duly impressed with your efforts and will support your company more in the future.

Most welcome,

Please visit www.dlink.co.za to get the patch for the DSL-504G.
I have tested this one myself on 4 different sites and it is working.
You have my contact details, please give feedback to me on any further problem.

The problem with DSL is that Telkom has only provided
www.altech.co.za with the specifications for the correct operation
of DSL modems with the Telkom exchange.

If you want your DSL to work, you will have to buy a www.altech.co.za
DSL modem.

Let me get this right, you are saying that only modems supplied by Altech will work... NOT TRUE!

I have a Draytek Wirless Router / ADSL Modem that works just fine. It was brought from the UK for me by a friend visiting. I have also setup a Planet AD3000 for a client of mine with no problems.

Could this problem cause the D-Link 504g to crash every now and again? It seems this usually happens when receiving/sending a lot of data - such as downloading or playing games. Connection gets lost, all lights remain steady and I can't access the web-interface. The only way to fix it is by switching it on & off.
