I signed up with Afrihost with their uncapped Fibre package. I was for many years with Axxess on ADSL and prior to that with Afrihost ADSL. The Afrihost Fibre was a better deal than Axxess.

I now remember why I left Afrihost so many years ago. Almost non-existent support.

Anyway Let me get to the point. I was supplied a D-Link DIR825 Wi-Fi router which was faulty so I returned it to be replaced. I used in the meantime my ASUS adsl router for Wi-Fi and it worked well except for Wi-Fi range which is not great in the house.

I received the replacement D-Link and connected it up. Works well, great Wi-Fi range. Now no emails will come in or go out. There is no error message. Emails worked fine with the ASUS. I have tested LAN connection and Wi-Fi connection to D-Link. Desktop and Laptop. The first D-Link did the same thing.

Of course Afrihost haven't a clue. Does anyone else have this problem or know what the cause is? It could be a setting in the router. I am sure Fibre has nothing to do with it.

Please help.

Can't blame them for no clues, doesn't sound like a legit issue even,or anything easy to diagnose with very limited information

I can't see this being a router issue, best is to factory reset it, update the firmware and test.

Are your emails sitting in your outbox?

This could be a mac authentication issue with afrihost/fibre provider.

Turn the router and cpe off over night an test in the morning.

Is there a Firewall enabled on the Dlink??

What type of email account is it? Pop/imap/exchange?
Can you telnet ports?

It's pretty strange - unless those ports are blocked on the router, which they generally wouldn't be.

Have you tried a factory reset?

If that's not doing it, then we definitely need to troubleshoot with you to find the cause of this.
