I'm no electricity expert but from what I understand Yes.
BUT ....I was told you need to make sure the plug points are all on the same circuit breaker. Apparently older houses often have their plug points split over 2 circuit breakers and thus it separates the "LAN's" and therefore you're not able to create a circuit/network connection between the 2.
the problem is if you live in flats you share your cabling with everyone else.. and in a neighbourhood you might share with your neighbours..
