D3 Demon Hunters Conclave

Not sure how this could be BIS, even if it was a ancient. Even a regular kridershot with frost arrows cant be topped unless im missing something here.

I'm with you on that...I'd take a normal Krider over an ancient crafted as well

Something about Arcane Barb (xbows having the highest damage range) being the most easily accessible Ancient available for Cluster Arrow builds

Yeah but 2 or 3 cluster arrows and then 10 seconds of hatred regen blows.

With kridershot or chakram quiver you never stop firing, and neither do the sentries. Even now the sentries fire frost arrows when a DH does. So there is no way the xbow could be BIS

The main source of damage is no longer your sentries, it's you due to the 6 piece bonus (+100% damage per sentry dropped)

While your sentries can still benefit from Enforcer, you'd do more damage with Zei's at the same rank. Due to the range of sentries now in certain open maps, 3-4 screens away in some cases, Zei's proc would max before it hit the target

Pretty sure you are missing something here.

The set bonus gives you 100% more damage per sentry, because the sentry is it's own 100%.

If you do 1000 dps without a sentry.
Then with a sentry you do 2000, but the sentries contribute 1000.
With a second sentry you do 3000, sentries now total 2000.
With a 5th sentry you do 6000, sentries contribute 5000.

This is very simplistic and does not take into account the fact that sentries are all shooting auto attacks in between your spenders and in between you running around and dodging things. As well as the rockets they shoot for each auto attack. So the set bonus was only put in to ensure that your character contributes at least 50% to the total dmg done, instead of feeling like the puppet master that tickles, while you puppets do all the dmg.

So short answer is this: Enforcer is still one of the 3 BiS gems without a doubt.

I read that as your own damage stacks with each sentry though...

Zei's affects both your sentries and you, enforcer only affects your sentries

Then there's also the LOS of a sentry could cause it to contribute 0dps

Yes but that would be down to playstyle and sentry positioning experience. I am not arguing whether Enforcer is better than Zei's. I am arguiing that Enforcer is still one of your top 3. Seeing as you made the statement that Enforcer is now useless. Which it clearly isn't.

You might not be, but I am arguing that Enforcer is useless because Zei's is better...if you run/ran the standard 3 gem setup of BotP/BotT/Enforcer prior to 2.1.2 :p

In 2.1.2 Zei's > Enforcer if this is a choice decision

If you're not running Cull the Weak/Bane of the Trapped/Polar Station, then yes Enforcer is the next best thing

So your gems would then be BotP, Enforcer, Zei's

Ye agreed. If it is a choice between those two, then it may be that Zei's is better. Provided you play to Zei's strength.

The fact that cluster arrows can come from turrets from 2 screens away makes Zei's pretty cool.

Loving this new M6 - had frostburns stashed - rolled cold damage Reapers - happy days :)

Did a GR32 with Vrotappel that I would have struggled with in the previous patch

So happy not to be looking for TnTs any longer and I like this play style.

The changes are pretty interesting. It's a different style of play for sure. Still messing about with gear combo's to see what works best for me.

Took the plunge and crafted a 3,2k ancient arcane barb yesterday. With the xbow's slower attack speed, I found I was casually burning Hatred instead of going from 125-0 in less than a second from when I ran with a bow

Saw some gorgeous 183mil crits with 4 or 5 Sentries out... blizzard pls, we need a sentry counter :(

Can i have them back, son of a .... :D

I don't quite have the mats to take on that challenge. I will be looking for a krider of course though.

Right now I am running a very high roll Danetta's, the one with the stun rune affix. The attack speed is of course madness and I do like big dmg numbers from Xbows, but for now I like the run and gun speed you get out of 2.0+ attacks per second.

I would love either a frostburn or a hexing pants for my cold build. I would feel awful dropping my mara gloves though. I rolled a pair with 729Dex and perfect AS(Rerolled),CHC,CHD. Tonight I will reroll that AS to resource reduction instead. But they are 21 dex away from being the perfect gloves.

Picked up that Chakram quiver and crafted a crossbow that was a 12 percent damage increase over my calamity...
So much to get used to... Cold is now the way, right?

I love cold. Although I still feel as though the bombadiers is superior to the chakram, even when only using a standard generator like evasive fire.

I tried out the chakram one though, to be sure. It is strong, but the loss of 2 sentries is a lot of damage. And the cold rune for chakrams is not too good IMHO for aoe. I think that cindercoat+chakram Quiver+twin fang chakram rune, is possibly the only real viable chakram+cluster arrow build.

Picked up a 2.3k krider a short while ago, can potentially roll 2.6k if I can ever get +10% damage.

I'll definitely be gifting and testing the krider vs ancient arcane barb

My suspicion is that it depends on the fight. On a guardian, the Krider should win. Because you wont have enough health globes to keep you topped off indefinitely so you have to weave generators and spenders together.

But on normal trash and most elites, you should have an ample supply of health globes to keep your hatred up with minimal generator shots. In that case I suspect that the ancient Xbow would win out.

Let us know how the testing goes though
