Monks are really good -
Low cost 4 sec invulnerability (that breaks frozen, nightmare etc) and free revival every 60 sec. The only drawback is lowish armour.
 
My wiz is now at 60(6). 53k dps. 35.2k hp. AR 600+.

She still takes damage way too easy though.

And only real heal comes from weapons.....

Barbs imo are a lot easier to play in HC as they have tons of LS/armour/HP/LoH etc etc.

I am not saying Monks can not be played, I am saying Monks will need a different play style to SC mode.

Lol, I have played a bit of public but then I drop around 4-5 MP levels to make sure that if they are idiots who tuck tail and leave me to face an elite group alone, I can at least get out alive.
 
My Wiz is at lvl60p3. Been a bit nervous to play HC lately with bad latency. Waiting for my ADSL line to continue :P

Though all my level 60 HC chars are still well and kicking, I am taking a break as well... May dust off my WoW toons a bit, or just enjoy the slightly warmer days ;)
 
D3 HC is broken. I wont play it because desync and disconnects will kill you more often than bad play, or lack of concentration. HC is supposed to be about skill, with a tiny bit of luck (Elite pack rolls and ability to avoid them). Not 80% luck on whether you desync/disconnect with too many mobs nearby.

I would play HC if they had an offline mode, but not with the current state.

Sounds more like your connection is broken... At least know of 4 other South Africans part from me with HC chars with over 10 paragon levels.

Ye I am running 30 ms on a 50 mb line in the UK, so nothing wrong with my connection. I nearly died just yesterday to a small desync on a level 52 barb.

I don't doubt that there are plenty of people that still enjoy hard core and do fairly well in it. But for me, the risk of dying to something that is completely out of your control is too frustrating. You may be P10, but one day you will be unlucky with your connection and go splat.
HC is meant to be played offline, where everyone is on equal footing. It is meant to be purely skill and build based. Not determined by lucky or unlucky internet traffic/server state as you go in on an elite pack.

Look I am not saying that this happens often. Just that it happens and kills the idea of making a HC character for me.
 
Finally lost my P65 HC barbarian to a disconnect while I was in the Fields of misery surrounded by goatmen and charging bulls... never had a chance.

R.I.P PWBotha the 2-handed beast of death. Was pushing over 140k DPS unbuffed, full IK set, LS on my Skorn and 100% gems everywhere... Lost over 600 Mil gold in that ****ing disconnect.

Edit: Blizzard was strangely generous to me after I reported it - they refunded me all the eq that I lost but did not restore the character. I sold the lot and equipped my WD.
