D3: High Level Char Stats

When Crusader only stacked crit damage and he ran with us it felt like he wasnt doing much DPS (which was true since after the first shot his DPS basically dropped 70%, 100k -> 32k). Then he added 10 or 15% crit chance on his gear I can feel that extra DPS coming through (without SS he is around 50k iirc). So yes, from the perspective of the melee guy who is having has face bashed in, the base crit chance on your gear makes a huge difference. Keeps your true DPS much higher

Yup. Have to agree with Archer there. Sharpshooter gives you a false sense of power with insanely high DPS figures that you only rarely see. Since I've started working on increasing my actual crit chance I can say that things feel much better. Whenever I compare gear now I switch to another skill to see the true DPS change.

hehe, I see you snapped up that amulet I suggested. Happy with it?

Yeah, I thought it was decently priced. It seems MF gear is getting rather sort after. When I was browsing the AH this weekend on some of my slots I could find anything that even matched it let alone improved on it.

Guess I have to accept that any big upgrades are going to come at the cost of MF. And seeing as I can run Act 3 quite comfortably with my current gear I dont intend dropping any MF any time soon.

So, I have spent a bit of money upgrading my DH. Got a cheapy manticore and swopped out about 150 all resist (had close to 600) for another 20k hard dps (not sharpshooter). Feeling much more powerful in attack but much weaker in defense. Dropped around 4k in health too.

The max I have spent on any equipment is 3.5M and that was for the manticore and 1M for the ammy. The rest I have spent around 500k each. I don't want to lose more all resist and HP.

Any suggestions for equipment. I currently have around 1M gold. so my budget would be around 3M max. I have no idea how you guys get so much gold. I spend a lot of time "bargain browsing".

I'm going to farm till patch 1.0.5, I can use the extra gold and although my gear can use loads of upgrades, it's good enough that I can farm A3 with moderate deaths (depending on monster affixes). On the other hand it might still be a while so I'm really not 100% sure, but I'd get that 1m to a decent number and wait it out :P

what is the ETA on patch and what's a decent amount of gold. Most I ever had was 5M. I have 2M now.

No ETA on patch 1.05 yet that I am aware of. As for gold, a good amount is as much as possible :p

@moosamc

If you have a hard time farming maybe we can do some co-op a3 runs.

Your AR seems terribly low o:

In my opinion that should not really matter all that much as I am a ranged char....

I will try and find items similiar to what I have, just with more HP and AR.

Please don't take my advice when it comes to classes other than Barbs ;P I have no idea what I'm doing! But it seems you are partially correct, although I do think AR is the top prio, and you should you aim for 500+ at least for a2 farming.

Defense - Your primary defensive stats are vit, % life, bonus armor (which includes strength), resistances (which includes intellect), life regen, dexterity (everybody should have at least 100), movement speed (which includes IAS), and for some builds life on hit. Which of these stats and how much of them you want depends very much on whether you are using force armor or prismatic armor, which I’ll address more below.

Unless you plan on never taking a single hit, ofcourse AR should matter...Taking my DH as an example, act 3 is much easier to play if I can take 3-4 hits instead of not worrying about AR and getting one shotted by everything. And HP isn't everything, take this example, 30k hp with 1000 AR(not that you need a 1000, just an example) would be way better than 50k HP end 0 resists

That I know, and my Wiz can take a hit or four before she dies, I would just think that getting another 150 AR might not solve my problem, but could cost me 10 mil....

Maybe I am just really bad at kiting :p

Whats your AR atm (can't open link at work) but yeah if its gonna cost you 10m its probably not worth it depending on how rich you are haha... I can do the whole act 3 without dying(provided I kite my ass of against some elites) with 50k dps (110k with sharp shooter) 400 AR and 35k HP, not exactly your typical glass canon but still very squishy in some situations.

PS: I suck at kiting too, 250-300ms latency really comes into play when you have to pop your "oh ****" skills like smoke screen:D

PS again: But I don't know to much about wizards, but I''m sure with the same sort of hp an AR as my DH you should do just fine to farm act 2/3, although act 3 takes a bit more time, the quality of drops from my exp is way better

With my "shielding aura" my RA is 350-450 all round.... my DPS is 62k and my HP 31.5k.

And my ping is 380-500 on average so it really fscks with my kiting, well that and my imagenation that my Wiz turns into a Warrior when elites appear :p

And i am not a "rich" player. 500k in the bank atm :(

Thank you sir. When I go for the AR upgrade with 150-200 I will call :D

Imo I just feel that wizards should be glass cannons but imo they are under powered. DHs do more damage, so do monks, and both those classes have more survivability.

I think maybe I should try and get my HP up with around 10k and my AR up with around 150. I om sure I can afford to lose 10-12k DPS.

I dont think you want to go below 45k dps buffed in Act 2 on a wizard. On my monk I was very happy at around 30-35.
But the tricky thing is all those semi invul mobs (invis snake, jumping grenade throwers, etc). Act 3 you dont have those mobs as regularly so its sort of easier actually
