Discuss and propose rules for the MyBB Clan here.

I'll update the OP with decisions reached.

--------------
Rules:
1. Respect for each other on ingame chat
2. No Botting / Cheating
3. Contextual 'adult' language is fine

Common Sense:

1. Common courtesy applies when greeting / saying hello
2. We are all adults - cut each other slack where required
3. It's a game - have fun!

No Botting or cheating of any kind
Respect Fellow Members & MyBB. The way you conduct yourself reflects on MyBB & the members

Will reply when I think of more

I find this amusing...started at macros and now we're here.

When I had an issue with people talking about macros it seemed I was alone. The 1st step down a slippery slope.

I'll repeat what I said before on the issue:

I don't care if you bot/script/macro. It doesn't affect me. I'm not going to build up reasons in my mind why it does, when it really doesn't. Just dont flaunt or talk about it in the open because it is against the Blizzards ToS and also I dont think the temptation is good.

There's no Auction House, and items found by botting wont be traded so it only really affects the person who is doing it and those that look at the botters gear/plvls in envy, even though they know the person botted (this doesnt make sense to me).

And at least with people in the clan, until they add an "appear invisible" option, its quite easy to see if someone is botting.

I don't agree or like anything that gives you an unfair advantage not intended with the game. Things that is considered cheating etc.
If you really have to do it, do it in private. Don't be on my friends list or in the clan I am in.

I'm sure this is going to be a bigger issue for Blizzard once ladders hits as it will obviously totally screw things for the ppl who actually wants to be legit & competitive

Meh, botters were a far bigger issue when the RMAH was around, I doubt they'll focus much on removing the problem just because of ladders.

I'll make an assumption here and say that anyone who plays a lot, doing the (hopefully) awesome tiered rifts is gonna progress way quicker than someone who bots 24/7.

I would think blizzard should be able to put in some gates to make botting just really not worth it. But, I dont really know the 1st thing about bots so I have no idea how capable they are.

I think rules should include being polite in chat and respecting each other.
(have seen too many people log on and greeting everyone just to be ignored)
Help others and thank those that have helped you... teaming up within the clan is not the typical public game and respecting each other goes a long way.

Botting and those other cheats, are not allowed in the game anyway. So those are rules that should be included by default, but enforcing them or proving that any one really cheats, is not a trivial matter. You can be 100% sure that someone cheats, but even Blizzard with all their access to logs usually cant prove that someone was cheating 100%.

I have a macro that presses 1 and 2, when I hold down the 1 key. I could mash the keys for hours on end, but that's just way too tedious. I believe any basic gaming mouse/Kb can do this sort of repeatable thing, so I'm comfortable with it.

I don't see Blizzard having any issue with that as any mouse or keyboard can do that these days. I have to say smashing 1 key repeatedly for hours gets hectic.

What mouse & keyboard software can't do is play the game for you and farm a boss for 10 hours, picking up items and salvaging items while you are not even close to the pc.

When I ran a CM Wiz in D3v, I had a macro that did 123 - without that macro I would not have been able to play the game with that toon (tried, my hand cramped really badly)

I have no issues with macros that bind actions together - botting is entirely different since that's unattended playing - with keyboard macros, you still have to actively play.

Yeah, thats not the kinda of macro I'm talking about, its basically just binding 2 functions to one key which they should just let you do anyway. Secondly, the only advantage this is giving you is saving wear on your keyboard.

Now, a macro where clicking a button will swap out all your gear to cooldown reduction gear, cast Archon (or whatever long CD skill you use) and then swaps all your gear back to your normal gear in the blink of an eye, is a different beast entirely. It's definitely going to give you a big edge over someone who would choose not to use it.
