What I don't really understand is these communities need houses right... Why aren't we hiring just foreman and instead of bringing in contractors with their own labour to build these houses and then handing them over to people we could use the people in these communities as the labour force to build their own houses. Through that process we teach people skills and get them able to produce something and contribute to society. The current method of just handing over completed houses leaves the community passive and unable to produce anything. They are forever reliant on the government. At the end of the day the government doesn't really produce anything, it just decides how tax revenue is redistributed. We can't sustain a country in which the majority of people are reliant on a system that just redistributes tax money.
